VERY IMPORTANT: addiction to opiates and discovery of fentanyl (o.d.?)

if a fairly tolerant opiate user were to eat two 100 mcg/hour (10 milligrams in each patch, so 20 mgs total at once) would they overdose?

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: addiction to opiates and discovery of fentanyl (o.d.?)

If the full 20 mgs of fentanyl got into the bloodstream it would kill the most tolerant of opiate users!!! Eating fent yield a low bioavailability which swim believes to be 1% so eating 20mgs would result in 2mgs hitting the bloodstream.

Swim HIGHLY advises against this!!!! IF ANYTHING CUT 1 PATCH INTO 1/16ths and chew a 1/16th. But like swim said do NOT mess around with this stuff unless the user has A SERIOUSLY HIIIGGGHHH TOLLERANCE!!!

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: addiction to opiates and discovery of fentanyl (o.d.?)

SWIM has been on Fentanyl for a few years now, she wears them, sucks them and takes them with her methadone (both prescribed) and even got a good heroin habit going while still using them. Her GP considers her to have the opiate tolerance of an elephant!, but SWIM would NEVER consider placing one new and unused patch in her cheek, let alone two. That would be 6 days worth of the highest strength patch in one go, only one word for it, SUICIDE

SWI Blackdb1 should follow the good advice of cutting the patch up into 16ths until the personal affects are known, SWIM still thinks heroin is hard to beat but for her, Fentanyl is a close second but better than methadone

Swim once ate two 50 mg fentanyl patches and really did think he might be on the verge of death. It was pleasant but at the sametime very frightening. Now swim is VERY opiate tolerant. If this can make swim feel this way it is a warning. If swiy is not opiate tolerant please don't even seek out fentanyl. If swiy is opiate tolerant and feel that they must please use EXTREME caution!

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: addiction to opiates and discovery of fentanyl (o.d.?)

On methadone. Fentanyl. And still using heroin? Okay: This should be Front Page News. The Federal program to cure heroin addiction has, to put it mildly, bombed.

We knew this long ago. But we need SWIM & Co. to stand up and say it loud and clear. It doesn't work.

There is only one solution: Legalize it. Educate people. Give them the truth. That is logic. But, I know (been there) some flag-waving Yee-Haw will try to kill you for being "un-patriotic" and spreading Truth around. Do it anyways!

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: addiction to opiates and discovery of fentanyl (o.d.?)

SwilisaJ Swim wonders how much methadone swiy takes a day because while he was on methadone even as low as 20mgs, he could not get euphoria from even a bag of heroin? Swims tolerance got DESTROYED when he started using fent and methadone at high dosages!!! Especially the methadone after a 5 day binge on fent patches he kept trying to obtain a buzz from the methadone until he reached a 100mgs and still couldn't catch a nod!!! GRRRR!

Now swims on suboxone and feels better than ever!!! He isn't high and zootin round tha house doing nothing, but he isn't layin round tha house or riding around trying to score. It (suboxone) is a miracle drug for swim!!!

Anyways swim got a little off topic there. haha But yeah he would NOT reccomend eating 2 100mcg fentanyl patches even if the user had the highest tolly he's ever heard of! Be safe and swim wishes the OP a wonderful but SAFE experience!!! bdb1

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: addiction to opiates and discovery of fentanyl (o.d.?)

SWIM was on 50mcg fentanyl patches when she started using heroin again, once her addiction started getting out of control she got her GP to up the patches to 75mcg and then to 100mcg thinking she might be able to stop using heroin that way. SWIM'S plan failed and her heroin use got worse so she told her GP what she was doing and asked for methadone, she was started on 25mg which was increased weekly until she no longer needed to use heroin, she thought her GP would stop her fentanyl but he didn't. SWIM started reducing her methadone by 5mgs a week after about a month, once pain became an issue again she asked her GP to increase her fentanyl so she could reduce the methadone further, this he did and now SWIM takes as little as 5mgs on a good day or 20mgs on a bad one, average daily dose is about 15mgs. Once SWIM was on 100mcg of fentanyl she found even two bags taken at the same time wouldn't give her a rush anymore, she could feel relaxed but not high - very frustrating.
SWIM'S friends who have never used fentanyl but do use heroin while on methadone find it takes 80mgs or more to stop them feeling the effects of heroin.
SWIM'S tolerance will have reduced a little by now and it would be interesting to know if she could get that rush with heroin again or if the fentanyl blocks it, if she decides to find out she'll let you know
