Smoke... health
SWIM is not worried about actual weed since, he knows that it is not really bad for him. However, SWIM is wondering about the acctually smoke that is inhaled when smoking weed. He realizes that the smoke has the most potential for health issues, but he does not know much and was hoping to be filled in. SWIM is worried about lung cancer and any other illnesses... are there any others that are possible? Can anyone give some info on the topic of smoke, like how much will it effect you, does it require constant use, etc... SWIM only does weed on rare occasions. Thanks, Plz inform SWIM on risks of smoke.

Re: Smoke... health
When SWIM was smoking the only problems he had were when he smoked while being sick. The fact that it makes you sicker and stops you from getting better indicates to SWIM that there are significant effects even when swimmers are in healthy shape.
It also greatly decreases your lung capacity for just about anything besides taking huge hits, so SWIM assumes there is something going on there too, though he has no scientific evidence, just anecdotal. |

Re: Smoke... health
If SWIY only smokes on rare occasions, there is no reason to worry. Recent research has shown that the THC molecule seems to induce apoptosis in possibly malignant lung cells. I.e., THC kills cancer. Some research has shown a negative correlation between smoking THC and lung cancer; I.e., one is more likely to get lung cancer if they had never smoked, compared to one who regularly smokes THC.
If SWIY is still apprehensive, there are other consumption methods. Vaporization via a volcano vaporizer, or oral consumption of THC laden goodies both come with nearly zero health risks. To the above poster, cannabis smoking does not cause emphysema as long as tobacco/nicotine are not simultaneously smoked. No worries. Perhaps SWIY should try some water-filtered smoking methods, such as a water pipe/bubbler. Less gunk should end up in SWIY's lungs. |

Re: Smoke... health
SWIM is familiar with what SWIY has quoted, however in SWIM's experience, a lot of organic particulate matter gets ends up in one's lungs when using a standard pipe. Tar will always be a problem when smoking a lipophilic drug that is laden with essential oils, terpenes etc which comprise the majority of the 'tar'.
The amount of ash that ends up in SWIM's water pipes, however, convince him that there is some value in water filtering. It also seems that the cooling effect of the water decreases lung irritation and coughing. Just SWIM's experience. |

Re: Smoke... health
Seems as though their is some conflict as to which is the most effective way to do weed... I have always heard that vaporizers are the least effective way to get the most THC, but here i just read that modern heat vaporizers are the most effective? Can anybody confirm an order of best effectiveness to least effectiveness in the way of THC intake for each way of doing weed. And a list of the healthiest and least healthiest ways would be great too... I think if we had a list like that it would be helpful to many people, except I am not that knowledgeable, maybe someone else can make it?

The cannabis wiki, featured here: http://www.drugs-wiki.com/forum/show...dministration: has a breakdown of efficiency by route of administration, with studies sourced as evidence.

Re: Smoke... health
A lot of it has to do with smoking style. SWIM takes moderate tokes, enough to take in without a struggle. The same way one would sip on a Martini. Big, heavy, lung-bursting tokes cause damage and may eventually lead to smoking-related illnesses although there is no direct link to cancer as far as all the credible evidence goes.
