Amphetamine Psychosis - Opening Doors
The Nibbler was just reading a thread by someone who hears voices while on amphetamine and it peaked his interest. Alot of people on that thread were talking about doors that are not meant to be open.
Interestingly enough in the few experiences The Nibblers had with speed psychosis he's heard voices (internal ones more like thoughts going out of control) and these voices said things like "You've opened the door and its alot harder to close the door than it is to open it". They didn't say this in a particularly threatening way but it did leave swis thinking "Oh fuck what have I gotten myself into now". The first time swis tried different approaches in dealing with these sinister voices like shouting abuse back at them or cracking jokes at their expense because they were talking all sorts of hocus pocus spiritual bullshit and swis found it funny so he taunted them about it and the only reaction they had to that was shutting up for a few minutes then talking again. Out of all these things he tried only 1 worked. Ignorance. When swis ignored these voices they started to fade away but the minute he concentrated and paid attention to them they started to get louder and louder again. Swis is going on the hypothesis that maybe speed combined with sleep dep opens up some sort of psychic abilities in your mind or stimulates some sort of psychic part of your brain (or opens doors) and allows these voices to come through from god knows where. These voices did say alot of interesting things like this "Is this your first psychedelic encounter?" and swis says yeah and it says "I had a few my first was in Amsterdam when I was on acid" but all in all these voices werent friendly at all they just kept telling swis he was about to die and to get out of the house and things like that. Swis is highly interested in this stuff now because he's pondering the notion that it may be some sort of psychic phenomena. He did test these voices and realized they never say anything he doesn't already know though so its hard to say. One funny thing was a voice said "Have you heard of R. Kelly?" swis replies "whos R. Kelly" and the voice replies "An author". Swis looked up authors called R. Kelly and he found one author that wrote a book called "The Sanctuary of the Soul" or something like that so he found that interesting. Anyhow swis wants to hear other peoples experiences if they have any with voices in their heads and wants to hear other peoples opinions on the subject. Skiznibbler added 8 Minutes and 0 Seconds later... All in all swis sees this as a highly positive thing. Something to be explored. A challenge at the same time. Swis considers himself somewhat of a mind warrior. He loves the challenges acid, shrooms and salvia bring but none of those compare to amphetamine psychosis. Its a real mind boggler. Re: Amphetamine Psychosis - Opening Doors
When the Nibbler smokes larges amounts of weed he hears really quiet subtle voices in the back of his head but can never make any sense of what they're saying. Sleep deprivation on the other hand its like hes talking to another person. He knows its all in his head but always has that little doubt in his mind because he knows the worlds way more mysterious than conventional science will have us believe.
What does swiy mean swim should comment on this? Comment on what? The Nibbler can also control these voices but not directly like making them say something by thinking about it its more like he has to carefully control his thought processes then he can clearly predict what these voices are gonna say. For example he'll think of something like "E=MC2" then these voices will start talking about Einstein and all the stuff him know about Einstein which is very little so they don't have much to say. These voices just bring up things The Nibbler knows like when a voice was telling him it was inside his head messing with his brain connections it was listing all the parts of the brain it was messing with but it mumbled one of two things that made no sense then it said "occupital discharge" which is something The Nibbler had been reading about before so thats when The Nibbler saw this voice wasn't that intelligent at all it was only as intelligent as he was, maybe more seeing as the subconscious mind is much quicker than the conscious mind. What freaked The Nibbler out first time he heard a voice was how it could remember things The Nibbler couldn't. It would bring up things people said to him years ago that The Nibbler had long forgotten. It would even bring up things he said to himself inside his head weeks earlier. The minds way more complex than The Nibbler thought before he experienced this amphetamine psychosis stuff. The funny thing is it only came about when he concentrated on these faint voices in the back of his head. He wasn't delusional or paranoid at all at the time he was just relaxing and took an interest to those faint voices and started listening to try and make out what they were saying then they started talking directly too him and The Nibbler started talking back and after that there was no getting rid of this second voice in his head. Highly interesting stuff and from dealing with it The Nibblers living proof that it IS curable and we can deal with it by ourselves it just takes experimentation. For one thing The Nibbler found out that if you want to stop hearing voices just ignore them and they will gradually fade. Its not always easy to ignore them but the trick is to know they have nothing worth saying and are not worth listening to. If like The Nibbler you want to experiment with these voices its just a matter of concentrating on them. Listen to them, talk to them, ask them questions and they'll start answering questions and talking back to you. |

Re: Amphetamine Psychosis - Opening Doors
That is definitely interesting, however I do not think amphetamine psychosis is something to be played around with. I do not have a reference for this but I believe that there is a correlation between physical damage to your brain and amphetamine psychosis. I believe it is more of a "if you are suffering from amphetamine psychosis there is a pretty good chance the things occuring in your brain are not healthy". This does not mean that one causes the other, mind you.
Also the things you are saying about the voices having certain meanings at times seem to suggest that the amphetamines are causing schizophrenic symptoms of some sort that you may want to be careful with. Believing in the paranormal (especially believing that the messages are directed to you in a profound way) is a very typical schizophrenic symptom. However, you seem to be handling these things very well, personally my camel really hopes to never reach a point of having amphetamine psychosis and is lucky to never have suffered these symptoms.(although my camel is very careful with dosing to ensure that this never happens) I hate to be the kind of person who scolds drug taking behavior but I feel that you should be aware that "opening these doors" could lead to bad things if experimented with to much. |

Re: Amphetamine Psychosis - Opening Doors
The Nibbler thinks thats the key. Beliefs. Only someone who believes or in the Nibblers case doesn't disbelieve paranormal phenomena will have these kinds of hallucinations. Other people will think police are chasing them because its the only logical threat they can perceive.
The Nibbler agrees with you that this isn't something to be messed with. Schizophrenias no joke. Definitely something to be researched in a clinical setting though. Its been a long time since the Nibblers touched amphetamines in a long time and doesn't intend on any time soon. It really is a dangerous drug and highly underestimated in swis's opinion. Swis should note that for some reason its only when he comes down that he hallucinates. For example sometimes he used to be heavily sleep deprived but wanted to wait until the night to sleep so he'd do a bit more meth then everything would become clear and all the slight visual distortions would disappear and he'd have no hallucinations at all but then when he was coming down and trying to sleep that night the hallucinations would hit much harder than before. |

Re: Amphetamine Psychosis - Opening Doors
Amphetamine psychosis for SWIM is actually quite interesting. At around the 24 hour mark of being awake, if he isn't currently on Adderall, he'll be extremely tired. At about the 36 hour mark his body goes into survival mode and he loses his desire to sleep and becomes indifferent. At the 48 hour mark to the 72 hour mark is when he receives hallucinations from psychosis. They can be as mild as thinking he sees something out of the corner of his eye to as intense as pattern movement and swaying comparable to that seen on mushrooms. By the 72 hour mark though his body goes into what he guesses is like a secondary survival mode and hallucinations stop. After that his emotions are characterized by indifference and a strange lack of desire for sleep. He might experience minor hallucinations after this point but they're either short in duration or not all that crazy. SWIM has had auditory, visual, and tactile hallucinations in the course of psychosis.
What is most interesting is that if he controls his psychosis with clonazepam or his psychosis just isn't that bad, he finds himself extremely motivated and creative. In fact, he finds his creative ventures are much more oriented towards personal satisfacation than academic responsibilities because its almost as if his mind is racing with ideas similar to when he is on Adderall. The thing is he could have taken Adderall last 24 hours ago, still be awake, and get this burst of creativity and energy. Furthermore, he's written some academic papers while operating in this "mode" and always did extremely well on them. Strange. He almost doesn't want to say it but he enjoys amphetamine psychosis because the symptoms are usually more desirable than undesirable, and not too difficult to control if they are more undesirable. He also loves sleep though, more than anything else, because sleep is awesome. Don't need to explain why. We all love sleep. |

Re: Amphetamine Psychosis - Opening Doors
Amphetamine psychosis for SWIM has never really been that full on, never having any total aural hallucinations except those which where never clear enough to sound like anything... a bit of whispery stuff maybe but nothing resembeling speech and nothing scary thats for sure.
SWIM's had visual distortions, seeing things out of the corner of his eyes but he's always been together enough to dismiss it as a hallucination. He's more interested in where it takes his mind, thinking about deep things, getting very introspective and then getting completly rooted on diazepam or weed or alcohol or maybe a bit of smack. This tends to kill the psychosis and eventually sends him to sleep which he likes cos he's not a real 'psychic mind traveler' so to speak he just likes getting fucked up and going dancing and shit. SWIM has done acid enough times however to appreciate this knid of thing but it scares him a bit, he had a bad trip once and never wants to go back there again but an amphetamine psychosis he feels he can handle. As far as whether this opens doors... sure, why not. Any kind of perceptive and/or cognitive alteration is bound to enlighten SWIY's on some level. Just be careful. Check yourself before you wreck yourself as the saying goes. |

Simply put: you're dreaming while you're awake. Your dreams are not profound, and they're not magical. If you really want to trip balls, try going to bed earlier and get a good night's sleep. |

Re: Amphetamine Psychosis - Opening Doors
Amphetamine psychosis isn't something for everyone to play around with. A strong minded person such as SWIY who can control their thoughts can come out of it with a profound mind opening experience but others such as the other thread will think they are going crazy and with continued use and eventually go crazy for awhile because it is too much for them to handle mentally

Re: Amphetamine Psychosis - Opening Doors
No they aren't magical, you have just induced a scitzophrenia (sp?) with amphetamines + lack of sleep. You basically have let dopamine run haywire as neurotransmitters don't balance well with lack of sleep plus the dopamine raising properties of amphetamines leads to that scitzophrenia episode as scitzophrenics(sp?) have higher then normal dopamine.
