Concerta and Marijuana Causing Delusions
SWIM's took 3 36mg Concerta pills in the last 2 days. Yesterday SWIM started feeling VERY hyper. SWIM's sister had some weed and SWIM thought she would calm down if she smoked it. Instead, she got more hyper. SWIM talked for 4 hours straight! She was CONVINCED she was a genius and knew more than ANYONE in the world no matter how much her sister tried to convince her otherwise. SWIM also started thinking someone could read her mind. SWIM's mind was racing faster than it ever raced before. It was amazing! (SWIM is bipolar, so IDK if that has anything to do with it.) Has this happened to anyone else here? Yesterday SWIM read a post about Concerta and marijuana and it said nothing would happen, but it would be a "happier" kind of high instead of a "stupid" kind of high.

Re: Concerta and Marijuana Causing Delusions
as far as being bypolar i dont think it has anything to do with it.
i take concerta every morning and i smoked weed on it all the time and then one night i was CONVICED that the world was just suppose to smoke weed and do all kinds of different drugs to get themselves into a cartoon world and we would just have sex eat and do drugs and run and eat mushrooms. i actaully really thought that. and then i kinda got myself together, because i am pre disposed to phsychosis i kinda shook my head and tryed ignorning it. and then i thought i was a super human, and it made me feel better. yes it did happed to me. so she is not alone. |

Re: Concerta and Marijuana Causing Delusions
That's a pretty typical rection to a big dose of stimulants. Being hyper (stimulation), egocentric ideas/feeling as if you are the best, and paranoia are exactly what they do, and 3x36mg is a HUGE dose if you are new, though concerta are extended release, 20mg instant release is enough to mess swim up bigtime if he hasn't used it in months. The combination with weed could definitely increase paranoia too.
SWIM would reccomend, if you wanted to try that again, to crush and snort only a small dose (maybe a third to half of one). Concerta is not available in swims country so can anyone say if this is the type of XR in which the small particles themselves are XR and cannot be crushed for better action? The hyper bit and the egocentric/confidence bits are the "happier" buzz swiys friend was talking about. People who are into ritalin, speed, meth, coke etc. enjoy that feeling precisely. Swim never really got it too much but does it very occasionally and does have a good time just talking shit to people on those occasions. |

Re: Concerta and Marijuana Causing Delusions
Swim snorts focalin and smokes weed quite often and he finds that the weed increases the effects and causes colors to be much more vibrant
. Swim would have to say that weed and focalin is one of swims fav combos .

Re: Concerta and Marijuana Causing Delusions
Isn't bipolar a serious contradiction to use of psychostimulants?

Re: Concerta and Marijuana Causing Delusions
SWIM has twice combined the two, and both times experienced something akin to a mild psychedelic trip combined with extreme paranoia.

Re: Concerta and Marijuana Causing Delusions
To me, it sounds like a maniac episode - you are bipolar after all.
Stimulants and being bipolar do not mix well in any way. As you've seen, they tend to induce maniac episodes and will result in horrible, horrible crashes. Stay away from the Concerta unless it's prescribed, and stick to the recommended dosages. |
