clean bong on airplane.. legal?

Hey guys, im flying up north for spring break, where i live theres no
good headshops or nothing. where im visiting has some sweet
headshops (frolic, flavor) and im hoping to buy a new bong, probably
drop around $200 on it... i have 2 questions:



would i be able to bring a CLEAN bong (say maybe anywhere from 1-2
feet) on, if its in a case and i say its for tobacco uses only? I
dont wanna buy it and risk getting it confiscated at the airport before
i get a chance to spark it...



and if it is cool to do so, than does anyone know a way i can clean my
glass of all residue and traces of thc incase i get tempted before i
can get it back home? any help would be greatly appreciated...
