Experiences - How long will these fragile feelings last?

Hi, SWIM took a tab of paper which appeared to be LSD. SWIM didnt have any visuals or hallucinations but laughed hard and felt quite scattered along with some very intense thinking.

SWIM found this ACID trip has changed his personality. SWIM feels like he is fragile and anxious. SWIM doesnt know if this feeling is going to stay or gradually dissipate? SWIM feels scattered still, after 6 days. Has anyone else had this feeling?

SWIM hadnt taken any tabs of paper for 12 years until the other night. SWIM has taken his far share of MDMA over the last 10 years. SWIM is wondering what can be sold to you in the form of LSD paper tabs which might not be LSD.

SWIM might have taken a DOx molecule instead of LSD25. I'd suggest researching these. Begin here:

Everything else is pure (and useless) speculation regards what was on the paper. Several possibles are: DOB, DOI, DOM, and DOC.

SWIM will be fine. Just keep him/her busy doing the daily routines - laundry, food, cleaning, working. SWIM's case of nerves will pass in short order. But it would be advisable to avoid any psychedelics - including cannabis, until SWIM's body/mind rights itself. Eat, sleep, take vitamins. And tell SWIM to go have some (drugless) fun. Perhaps sitting by the ocean or a favorite natural haunt. This happens with people frequently, so SWIM need not jump out of their shoes.

Check back and tell us how SWIM is doing in a week or two.

In some ways it feels like SWIM is still on the substance that was consumed.

Is this just normal introspection after taking (LSD) or is SWIM just over-analysing the situation? Maybe this is a good outcome?

This is not something for SWIM to consider/worry about at present. It takes time to look back and reflect on what may have been gained. For now tell SWIM to relax. The feelings will pass and his mind will re-integrate. SWIM should look back about this situation in a few weeks. Then months. Then years. SWIM is advised to take his time - knowing this will pass soon. He's alright.

Yes SWIM will do just fine. Sometimes when one clears the tubes out they take a little while to adjust.

It has been 23 days and SWIM still feels some elements of the trip.

SWIM feels generally anxious and feels somewhat scattered. SWIM's moods have been up and down.

SWIM is wondering if this could take months for this feeling to disapate? What is the average "afterglow". SWIM has wondered if these symptoms fit into the HPPD criteria, without Visuals.

Make sure that SWIY's psychical basics are in order: sleep, food, vitamins, etc. If not, then resolve this ASAP.

Tell SWIM to find something to do aside from focus inwards. Take a walk. Learn mycology (mushrooms) maybe - not for tripping but for choice, wild edibles. Ride a bicycle. Feed the pigeons. Just keep busy as this makes time pass more quickly. And be sure SWIM is following Alfa's advice to eat, sleep, and keep up on vitamins/minerals.

The can of worms will disappear in short order - as long as SWIM isn't dwelling on it. Time truly is relative.

Also if SWIY is blocking something that was revealed to him, this can cause great anxiety for months until you get grounded enough to go back to oblivious thinking--the timeframe spent in the LSD afterglow is entirely dependent upon personal factors which no one but you can access and know.

If there is a problem that was exposed to SWIY under the influence of LSD, from personal experience, SWIM would advise him to lay with that problem. Accept it, think about it often, and choose to act in some fashion--these things tend to become more distorted and agitated the more that one ignores them, if this is the case. However, if SWIY allows enough time to pass, ignoring these problems, he will definitely inevitably end up the same person that he was before taking the acid.

The big question is: is that a good thing? It's much easier to walk through a door and deal with what is inside than it is to make that door disappear.

This is why I don't suggest to anyone they take a psychedelic. Least of all young people. It takes a mature mind to understand what can occur and to be accepting of this. This being the occasional trip that causes instant psychoanalysis. If one resists the flow of data of a profoundly personal nature, one will possibly end up as songcycle alludes to: Blocked and very uptight. Feelings of unreality. Nervous and agitated state with difficulty concentrating on simple tasks.

One has to not only know themselves. One must be scrupulously honest with themselves. Instant psychoanalysis cuts through mental defenses like shit through a goose.

Yes many time psychedelics can cause problems in the unformed or unready mind. When things are buried and partially revealed and one is not mature enough to accept it there can be anxiety that remains and that could cause problems. I think because the thing is brought closer to the surface. I can remember SWIM being very young and on a psychedelic. Some things were revealed and he was extremely fried. He shifted into a horrible state of shame over some normal feelings. SWIM's mother was very strange about the concept of sex and transferred that shame to SWIM in hiw upbringing.

So SWIM connected sexual feeling with shame. And then at a very young age he had a highly intense trip and the feelings and shame surfaced. Of course at the tender age of 13 or 14 and being sheltered this simply caused problems for SWIM for quite a while after the acid. He was even more ashamed of normal sexuality. So yeah...that is just like one example. One needs to be at a point where they are ready not to take themselves too damn seriously when considering psychedelics.

Swim has had this for the first few days after his first time. he would not play computer games or be able to listen to loud music.

the feeling passed and Sim hopes it does for you in the near future as well.

Ok, SWIM's anxiety is much better now. He has learnt alot about his psyche. He was repressing something which wasn't dealt with properly. He is thankful for all the positive reinforcement and their support. It helped alot. SWIM is going to give his mind a rest for a while. Read some more Nietzsche.

Nietzsche is a psychenaut's best friend. SWIM has spent many an LSD session mulling over Nietzsche so he can get the guts up to face his problems. Really glad to hear that you've made progress.
