Spent Chargers?

Alright so through the nitrous use i have accumulated quite a few spent chargers, was wondering if every1 just throws them in the trash or if you can recycle them.

Re: Spent Chargers?

Might be worth taking them to a metal scrapper if you have a bunch of them.

Re: Spent Chargers?

After a long weekend of making cakes I always feel guilty about throwing away all of those chargers.

I should take up welding and make an art car out of them or something!

Re: Spent Chargers?

SWIM used to hold on to all of his empty cartridges too, he just thought it was kind of cool having a big collection of empty nitrous cartridges lying around . While doing some house cleaning, SWIM decided he should probably dump the empty cartridges somewhere, but didn't want to just throw them out (I think he had just watched "An Inconvenient Truth" or something, so he felt kind of guilty about throwing them out). He called his local metal scrapper and they agreed to take them off his hands. He felt kind of funny bringing in a grocery bag full of spent cartridges, but they didn't ask any questions, simply said that they would find something to do with them.

So tell SWIY to just call a few metal scrappers around their area, one of them is bound to be interested.

Re: Spent Chargers?

In the UK Scrap metal men occasionally come round in wagons shouting blowing horns or ringing bells, and will take and scrap metal off your hands, bicycles, washing machines etc.
SWIM tried ebay sadly no artistic idiots took the bait.

If SWIY is ever asked what they are, they can say they are gas canisters for an air pistol (which for most will not attract such a strange look)

SWIM wondered if anyone else noticed how similar they look to the bud bomb/bud bat covert smoking pipes?
SWIM is currently exploring making stash pendents out of them, though realises not everyone has a lathe at their disposal.

SWIM has on occasion seen reusable novelty ice cubes, that were plastic and so did not melt but if frozen would cool a drink and considered using nitrous caps in the same way, but the unknown oily residues within them put SWIM off.

SWIM now always keeps about 100 empties back for their BEST use- that is putting in the end of filled balloons so SWIM can crack as many as he wants before starting to trip.

Peace
Geezaman

Great idea in last sentence. Swim will have to give it a try, he always wondered about the best way to do this.

Re: Spent Chargers?

In germany you can bring them back to the shop where you bought it - and you get a refund for it. New money for new chargers bought from "old" chargers...

Re: Spent Chargers?

Weld or otherwise attach the chargers end to end (both holes together, so that the fat end of the chargers balloon outwards from each other), drill a hole lengthways through each one, thread them onto a length of string, spray them with different colours/glazes if you like. Hey presto, with enough chargers, you have a cool bead curtain.

Also, with easily available metalworking tools and next to no skill, you could make cool weed/crack pipes out of them.

Just a couple of ideas...

The problem is though, after 1 weekend. You'll have enough to make a hundred weedpipes...

Re: Spent Chargers?

Swim went camping with a load of NOS and the used chargers he used he put around the fire pit so it looked weird open end down. Although it’s not nice to leave rubbish around Swim felt it was art and even though they will take 1000s of years to degrade it will provide a laugh for someone. Plus they are only going to go in a landfill somewhere anyway. Swims mate’s dad is a metal scrap dealer well kind of and he said they were not worth selling, wouldn’t even take them to give to them. Swim did think of collecting them and did start till swim’s dad binned them thinking they was used CO2 gun chargers.

Re: Spent Chargers?

Good call Richard_Smoker, SWIM was just going to say...fill them up with black powder (thermite is fun too if SWIY likes to watch metal melt), put a LONG ASSS FUSE in, and RUN AND HIDE BEHIND SOMETHING STRONG AND THICK...ever heard of a pipe bomb? People die this way, but they're lots of fun if you play safely.

Re: Spent Chargers?

Swim has a bag of around 100 x 16g and 10 x 8g. Seems a lot to bin but has tried a friend who sells lead. but he would not take them.

Swim did offer them to a man who wanted to make a path for his garden but he said he would need 1000s and Swim does not plan on buying 1000s.
