Combinations - Kava (tranquilizer) and Kanna (SSRI anti-depressant)

Swim's experiment has changed slightly, since he no longer has access to cocaine. Instead, how about kava and kanna?

As a tranquilizer, kava potentiates GABA activity but does not alter dopamine or serotonin.

As an SSRI, kanna works initially as a stimulant with an increase in energy, but mellows out giving a gradually fading euphoria. The main active ingredient Mesembrine is a serotonin reuptake inhibitor, increasing the levels or serotonin.

Hopefully the kanna will provide enough stimulus or euphoria to counter-act kava's tranquilizing effetcs, but may result in a crash later on.

I have an instant distrust of one's using an SSRI as a recreational substance. I hope it is a very short-acting SSRI. Shooting up a school rarely wins people friends.

I fail to see the connection between shooting up a school and using kanna recreationally.

Of course, a search of erowid will bring up a number of experiences and a lot of background information. Although erowid classifies it as an Inebriating Sedative.

As far as the experience goes...

30 grams kava, strained, in 1 liter water.
4 grams kanna added.

This was consumed by swim over the course of 1.5 hours.

A very mild buzz to begin with, like that of alcohol. Mood was lifted, but not euphoric. Then followed by a sense of positive disorientation set in, a disorientation in a humorous way. Swim was in a friend's backyard with many other people.

This indeed lead to a heavy sleepy feeling 4 hours later, upon which swim fell asleep. The sleep was extremely restful, with several dreams taking place.
