i've been using opiates for about 2 years now, most lately hydro combined with soma. lately sleep has been out of the question. it use to be that i couldnt sleep while withdrawing but now i cant sleep even while using. maybe i'll sleep an hour then wake up, take a sleeping pill, sleep another hour and wake up. sleep about 3-4 hours a night. anyone else experience this shit?

well when i was withdrawing i flat out couldnt sleep for two days..then slowly led to a few hours of sleep which was all i could get per night for a while. i also woke up every couple hourslike u say u did..so i went to the doc and got something to help me fall asleep and since then i've been fine even after i ran out of meds. im sure it will go away but u might wanna see a doc about it cuz lack of sleep sucks pretty bad. |

yea dude, try to get some Ambiens or maybe even some benzos like Valium or Xanax. Be careful not to get too too stuck on the benzos though, the WD's from them is probably worse than that from opiates; it lasts upwards of several months, and can kill you. This is all relative to how much and how long one has been using but something to keep in mind. Ambien will know you the fuck out, but if you dont pass out soon, it wears off. But as VIKETIME said, it will slowly get better with time. You may even feel like your going crazy when you have gotten maybe 12 hours of sleep in a week, but in time your mind and body will both catch up to non-opiate processes, and sleep will again become normal and drup free. good luck dude. apradavra |

i once went 13 days without a minute of sleep kicking a 6 year junk habit cold turkey. i was in a detox and taken care of otherwise i would've gone completely mad. this was in canada where these places are free and quite helpful. the first night that i slept it was for about half an hour. it took a month to get up to 3 or 4 hours a night. my habit was about 2 to 3 grams per day of almost pure heroin. pure hell! i got clean and stayed so for a few years but the last 3 years i've been chippin a bit...what a moron |

In serious withdrawals I find sleep impossible. Benzo's, ambiens even trazadone or amiltriptoline(sp?) can help but your body won't let you sleep for long if it does at all. I've gotten off of about a 10+ bag a day habbit (amongst other things) and it took me about 2 months before I had regular sleep patterns. Probably two weeks before any noticeable amount of sleep was had at all. Looking back it seems tolerable, but at the time it was a neverending hell. I've always had sleep problems though.
