it has DXM HBr in it, but it also has another active ingredient (i forget, i can't check now) in it, but i haven't heard anything bad about it, or any risks on the forums. (but i just remembered that the purpose was as an "antihistomine")

What is the other active ingredient? Labrats should only consume products that have dextromethorphan as the only active ingredient or there are serious health risks.

Large amounts of doxylamine are not good for a SWIM. Similar to chlorphenamine maleate. Used as directed, it will help SWIM get to sleep. More worrisome in NyQuil is the large amount of acetaminophen. 1gm per standard dose. Do NOT use this as a recreational - unless a new liver would be a cool trip. Or a trip to the graveyard.

uhm, i just checked the label, and in the active and inactive ingredients, there's no acetaminophen.

Not to make light of your camel's anecdotal experience, there is very much evidence showing the liver damaging toxic effects of acetaminophen. 4G per 24 hours is the standard agreed upon by many medical authorities. It's not good to willingly tax your camel's liver when there are plenty of safer alternatives, show some common sense.

i mean, my camel's owners are going to notice more than 4 dosages missing, so it's hard for him to access too much, a solution to addiction to DXM -OR- Doxylamine.

You must take into account how many doses would be necassary for effects. I assume your camel is interested in gleaning the effects of the dxm, which would take more than 4 doses worth I would think.
Find something else to use rather than put your beloved camel at risk. Robotussin and Zicam have been known to work well and contain only dxm.

Please pay attention:

The amount of DXM necessary to achieve effects is above 300mg for most people as a low ball estimate. that means at the minimum 10 doses would be necessary for effects, and a minimum of 10G of acetaminophen would be consumed, which certainly would cause liver damage. Please force your camel to abandon all thoughts of using this cough suppressant for any purpose than a single dose for cough relief.

Browse the DXM forum for better alternatives, this one is a sure danger to anyone's health if taken for more than the recommended dosages.

Zicam Cough Mist Max has somewhere around 400mg of dxm if I remember correctly.
Take a few moments to use the search engine and you'll find plenty of information around here on it I'm sure.

Although Wiki is useful, perhaps when SWIY is considering things for their camel to ingest, the manufacturers website would be a better, more reliable, up to date etc source. Online pharmacies usually list ingredients of their products too.
It might be useful in future to try and find out the things SWIY has forgotten before posting so responses can be more helpful.
SWIM would suggest SWIY do much more research before finding other things for their camel to ingest as the opening post looks as though a certain camel was about to happily ingest something they were quite sure was safe.

SWIM drank a bottle of this a few nights ago, the 177ml bottle.


He felt no effects what-so-ever, and even tried smoking to increase the effects, but no DXM effects were felt. It may have been the Doxy, or just the fact of only having 177mg of DXM.

Perhaps Duff is just extremely lucky; one regular dose of night-time juice usually puts them in happy-land for a few hours. No other swim's have had the same effect?

Apparently, the Nyquil pills might be a safer bet as they contain less aceta than the syrup. That is what Duff said they're going to try next. Any thoughts?
