Mezcal
Anyone here a Mezcal </span>fan. I've just tried this tipple last year for the first time and I'm hooked. I drink Lajita </span>with the worm by the way.
Anyone else got any tips, comments, or anecdotes about tequila or mezcal. Especially in combination with any other substances? |

Once, in Mexico I drank pulque. It's the fermented juices of the agave
cactus. They distill this to make mezcal and tiquila. I actually liked it more than the local beer! I wish it was available comercially. |

I'd never heard of Pulque, so I checked it out. Apparently, there's
only one agave or maguey cactus that by law they can use for tequila, but at least six they use use for Mezcal. CLICK HERE</span> There's also another agave drink, similar to pulque, called Sotol, and this is comercially available, although only one village produces it so far. CLICK HERE FOR SOTOL</span> Last edited by Jatelka; 10-07-2007 at 07:26. |

One of the best overall shots of tequila is acctually sauza. It is also relatively inexpensive ( around 20 dol a 1/5). I perfer it to the greatly over priced mezcal. Mezcal is good, but not worth the price tag.

Hey being from mexico i get all kinds of mezcal. The secret to good
mezcal is getting the stuff that is still made by small homes or local farmers. It actually contains some sort of halucinogen (I want to say mezcaline but im not positive). I first hand have had halucinations pretty mild but deffenetly present with Mezcal. |

"Mezcal" is Mescal, and it's the Mescal bean, not the worm in tequilla..It's also not Mescaline..Edited by: Psilocybe S.

Mezcal is a some kind of tekila that is cooked (that's why it taste like ash)...It makes you pretty drunk butI hate the ashy taste Mescaline is a potent psychedelic & hallucinogen found in several cactii (peyote, san pedro and peruvian torch). There's no mescaline in the mezcal drink. Mescal bean is a deadly poisonous seed (containing cytisine) that was used among mexico shamans in very very little dose to achieve some trance/delirium state with hallucinations. Extremely dangerous, never use this! Note that there's no mescaline in the mescal bean, and the mescal bean has nothing to do with themezcal drink. |

as far as I heard, I thought that mescal was a precursor to tequila production. thats why it's [strike]not as smooth[/strike] so harsh. but thats just what some friends from Mexico told me, i'm not sure.<!-- var SymRealOnLoad; var SymReal; Sym() { window.open = SymWinOpen; if(SymReal != null) SymReal(); } SymOnLoad() { if(SymRealOnLoad != null) SymRealOnLoad(); window.open = SymRealWinOpen; SymReal = window.; window. = Sym; } SymRealOnLoad = window.onload; window.onload = SymOnLoad; //--> <!-- var SymRealOnLoad; var SymReal; Sym() { window.open = SymWinOpen; if(SymReal != null) SymReal(); } SymOnLoad() { if(SymRealOnLoad != null) SymRealOnLoad(); window.open = SymRealWinOpen; SymReal = window.; window. = Sym; } SymRealOnLoad = window.onload; window.onload = SymOnLoad; //--> Edited by: lilsteve |

well mescal is one of the byproducts of tekila production which is then cooked over fire to get it's unique ash taste (which I don't like). But I love tekila. |
