LSD a few days post wisdom teeth extraction?

SWIM just had his wisdom teeth cut out wednesday. This saturday a few kids SWIM knows are gonna be tripping. Would it be a bad idea if SWIM joined them? Like would painkillers and LSD affect SWIM in an adverse way. It's probably a stupid question SWIM just wants to make sure.

Re: Quick Question

"Quick Question" about what? Butterflies? Armadilloes? Existential Nihilism?

From the rules:

• Use descriptive Topic Subject. This will help others find what they want to read. Topics with bad Topic subjects may be deleted! - there's nothing more annoying than looking at all those stupid "A stupid question" subject lines. I mean, I'm damn lazy, but how hard is it to type "A stupid question about (insert something here)"? As a rule of thumb, most thread titles should include the full name of the drug discussed.

A rule many tend to forget will cause a mass of warnings soon...

Your marmoset is much more likely to get a response if people know what she is actually asking!

Personally the flamingo can't think of anything worse than having a mouthful of holes on a psychedelic!

She has a vivid memory of stumbling home from the dentist (age 5) high on nitrous feeling distictly strange post extraction of 6 milk teeth (what kind of butcher removes 6 teeth in a single sitting in a 5 year old?)

Simple pain killers (such as paracetamol, acetominothingy if one is from the US) should not cause any problems, but the flamingo would still strongly recommend that the OP is in tip-top physical condition before LSD excursions. How hard is it to wait a week?

Edit: This...

http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/sho...light=combined

has some useful thoughts on whether tripping while unwell/generally seedy is such a good idea

Re: Quick Question

Guess it wouldn't be too hard to wait. SWIM was just wondering. Sorry about the whole Topic name thing. Thanks.

Re: LSD a few days post wisdom teeth extraction?

In Dr. Oscar Janiger's studies with LSD in the 1950's, he claims that a man had a tooth extracted under a dose of 1000 micrograms and didn't feel any pain. While SWIM is sure SWIY won't be taking that much most-likely, LSD is a pain killer at "psychedelic doses." It has been proven to kill pain for sometimes upwards of 97 hours (reference pending).

Here's an excerpt from the article on Dr. Janiger:

Janiger also describes a sub-study related to the psycho-physiology of pain blocking. This study was examining whether LSD could act like a dissociative anesthetic:

R: For example, we took him to this man who was a professor of dentistry at UCLA, who extracted his tooth. He didn't use any anesthesia. And the subject had no pain. The dentist said later that he was astonished because he had touched the man's nerve with his instrument and he didn't respond. He said it was the only time he'd ever seen that a person was able to tolerate that, when there was no anesthesia.
I: How large of a dose did he get?
R: About a thousand micrograms. [pp.3-4]

That's pretty cool. SWIM was just wondering if it would be dangerous to take LSD while on the painkillers SWIM's surgeon gave him: percocet.

SWIM can take LSD with percocet. That would not be a problem

Re: LSD a few days post wisdom teeth extraction?

It wouldn't be especially dangerous. LSD and psychedelics in general are fairly safe to combine with other drugs as they don't have too dramatic effect on circulation, blood pressure, heart beat and other vital functions. Stimulants, if any class of drugs, would be something that SWIM would avoid with acid, though it's not generally regarded as dangerous. SWIM'd just feel uncomfortable.

Re: LSD a few days post wisdom teeth extraction?

I've been dealing with some tooth pain and unless you're all healed up, I wouldn't do it. The last thing I could imagine wanting to occur would be to find out any possible anesthetic properties don't work on searing mouth pains. Just seems like the type of risk best avoided till you know you won't bite down on something and open the wounds.

Re: LSD a few days post wisdom teeth extraction?

SWIM went ahead and did it, with no problem. SWIM made sure he was off the pain meds and felt no pain. SWIM said it was like a week after the surgery.

Re: LSD a few days post wisdom teeth extraction?

1,000 mcg of pharmaceutical 1950's LSD25 - and he didn't feel any pain? He likely was in a sea of blinding, cool white-light beyond space/time! Somehow I can't see this catching on in dentistry. You might get your teeth fixed, but have a minor side-effect like becoming a devoutly religious person talking about God.
