DENMARK: 4-AcO-DIPT, 4-HO-DIPT and dextromethorphan controlled (27/05/2008)


On the recommendation of The National Board of Health, the Danish Minister for Health and Prevention has decided to add the substances 4-AcO-DIPT, 4-HO-DIPT and dextromethorphan to the Danish lists of controlled substances. 4-AcO-DIPT and 4-HO-DIPT: List B. Dextromethorphan: List C.

On 22 May, the Minister signed the Executive Order amending the Executive Order on Euphoriant Substances which will enter into force on 25 May 2008. Subsequently, 4-AcO-DIPT , 4-HO-DIPT and dextromethorphan may only be used for medical or scientific purposes.

It seems that Denmark is banning anything psychoactive. i think this will pose a serious problem, when the EU will merge/unify its drug laws.

Is dextromethorphan currently sold for non-scientific/medical practices? I see what they are doing with the 4-substituted tryptamines, but why dxm? Also, are there any other substances currently being examined?

It was sold as cough medicine under the name Dexofan.
I found one article dated 16 april 2008 where politicians from Socialistisk Folkeparti(socialistic "peoplesparty") demand an immediate ban on DXM. The article states that 6 danes have died from it and that young people call it "poor-mans ecstacy".
One of the deaths was a suicide and the others were in combination with other drugs.

Dexofan® is made prescription-only
Today, the Danish Medicines Agency passed a decision to classify Dexofan® as a prescription-only medicine in dispensing group A on recommendation by the Licensing Committee. Medicine in dispensing group A can only be dispensed once on the same prescription.

The decision takes effect as of 18 April 2008 following which Dexofan® will no longer be available over the counter.

I see a likely scenario for DXM in the USA - which won't ban it as it generates large amounts of revenue for the drug companies: DXM-based cough medicines will start being mixed with small amounts of ipecac. Ipicac causes intense vomiting when taken over a certain, small dose. Harmless in small amounts, if taken with enough DXM to produce psychic effects this would cause extreme nausea and vomiting.

I'm just waiting.

Will the horror never end?!?

Sadly, as so many times before, it is the result of a combination of media scaremongers and populist politicians. A national tv-station showed a "documentary" about this new drug with LSD & ecstasy effects (to those that didn't know, the effects of neither of those drugs are distinguishable from DXM) all the children were indulging in and they got it OTC straight outa the pharmacies, then it was only a matter of hours before the first populist schwein showed their face in the news calling for immediate action. This country makes me sick :/
As sunyata mentions there has been 6 deaths reported where DXM was involved, 1 suicide and alcohol was involved in the rest. The potential damaging effects of alcohol never seem worthy of mention in the media though, I guess it doesn't have the same impact because most readers have personal experience with it.

The media didn't catch on to the 4-substituted trypts AFAIK but due to different circumstances some of the up-until-now unscheduled substances have become easily available for even the most retarded irresponsible imbecils, who due to their complete lack of reason and common sense are getting caught all over the place and to avoid getting a fine, point out that they're arent doing anything illegal cuz it's just a RC instead of just accepting the police's guesswork that anything powder-ish is amphetamine. They come of clean and a couple days later another drug is scheduled. I don't think they give a damn though, there's still plenty of unscheduled RC's they can fuck them selves up with, hurray!

In my vision of DOOM I have a feeling kratom will be next because of it's rising popularity here and because our scandinavian neighbours sweden and finland have noticed already that a lot of kratom packages cross their borders. It seems we aim to be first with a ban on anything these days, so I'm guessing it's only a matter of months.
I'm sure the retards will lay of the leaves and extracts because they're too much of a hassle, but I'm concerned with the very potent tinctures. Any aspiring Darwin award nominee can easily fuck themselves up on that.
