More info is needed. mg of what substance, how is this substance being consumed, how is this substance is found (in a pharmaceutical pill, or from a street dealer, etc.), does the user have any opiate tolerance...

There is a thread about the dosages of opiods in this forum. If swiy wants to take more than two he should perform a cold water extraction, because of the apap content.

Going back to the topic though, how much mgs of said hydrocodone is needed to OD? swim has never really known.

a very basic google search led to the numbers of 40mg for those without any tolerance to opiates, to 120mg for those tolerant, and 180mg for those with chronic pain and extreme tolerance. but that's wikipedia so take it as you wish.

With something like lortab swim would be more worried about acetaminophen poisoning than a hydrocodone overdose.

^^true and swim think its about 10,000mgs of acetaminophen to OD in a 24 hour period. So if a hydrocodone 10 with 500ms of acetaminophen in it then it would take about 15 or so to be a unhealthy dose ...swim thinks

If one exceeds 4,000 mgs of apap in a day then liver damage could result. 10,000 mgs is well above the point of overdose.

It would vary greatly, but SWIM doesn't think 40mg of hydrocodone (excluding the APAP that might be present in some hydrocodone preparations) would kill almost anyone by itself. SWIM has seen a completely non opiate tolerant person take 40mg of OXYcodone and not die, and oxy is much, much stronger than hydro.

SWIM was going by the information he found on the net, he has very little experience with opiates himself and the 4G a day of APAP rule is fairly well established around here.

I think 4g is a very cautious estimate from tons of PERSONAL experience. I think the poster who said 10,000 MG's will cause OD was referring to the fact that a fair aount of studies show that the average healthy adult doesnt experience any liver damage until the 7-10 gram range. But yes 4 grams is considered a safe dose for anyone to take in a day. Most people can handle larger doses than 4 grams some people can experience problems at doses higher but most of them experience those effects because of the combination alcohol and tylenol.

The maximum daily APAP you can take is 2000mg, any more than that you'll hurt your liver.

SWIM used to take Lortab's like candy when he had back problems... occasional blood tests showed that SWIM had elevated liver enzymes in his blood. When SWIM stopped taking Lortabs (and drinking with hydrocodone/APAP) his liver enzyme readings returned normal.

The pharmacist told SWIM that 2000mg of APAP was the max recommended... so SWIM thought about Vicoprofens (hydrocone and ibuprofen), its one or the other... APAP kills your liver, and Ibuprofen kills your kidneys.

BTW, SWIM with a tolerance to hydrocodone said that he often took 4 7.5/500 Lortabs at once and would drink 3-4 beers. Any more pills than that made SWIM feel sick.

It wasnt 2000 mgs of apap that damaged your liver its the combination of apap and alcohol.
