Worried About Infection

Ok SWIM lost a ritalin tablet a few days ago in the garden on gravel, after to days of heavy rain he found it in it's packet, before thinking he insufflated it, the taste in the nose and mouth was different and the tablet when found in packaging the seal was damaged and the tablet pulverised, he is worried bacteria and other contaminant along with humidity were present, his only logical reason against bacteria contamination is that the HCl present would kill them, still does anyone have any thoughts on this as SWIM is worried about getting a nasty infection in his primary route of admin, also if neccesary a nasal douche recipe, although i guess saline would be the only option.

By "i" mean SWIM BTW

Re: Worried About Infection

the risk of infection shouldn't be any different than eating a tomato without washing it... swiy shouldn't be too worried, a week of anti-biotics should help though.

Re: Worried About Infection

The nasal pasages get infected much faster. If swiys nose is hurting or has any puss, see a doctor and get some anti-biotics! If swim isn't noticing any side effects there is no real reason to worry.

Re: Worried About Infection

IMPORTANT: I'm not a med, this is just my own opinion.

I'd keep a low-go with the antibiotics...maybe the pill just tasted different because of being dissolved, so SWIY simply had the taste of the other pill's ingredients.

If there are any problems, of course, SWIY should consult a doctor. And we come in so much contact with bacteria all day, so this shouldn't really hurt.

Re: Worried About Infection

The "Willy-Nilly" administration of antibiotics is how we managed to develop super-germs that are resistant to all known antibiotics. You buy them in soap to wash your hands. You put 'em in your dog's food. You rub 'em in a minor cut/scrape. Then you end up sick as the dog - and the doctor can't find a way to cure you. Your body now converts harmless micro-organisms into monsters that WILL hurt you.

Bottom Line: If you are truly sick, see a doctor. Do not reach for the penicillin unless it is needed.

I absolutely share your opinion about the too-fast administration of antibiotics!
