Paroxetine vs Venlafaxine

SWIM has been on venlafaxine for several years on doses ranging from 75 mgs to 300 mgs (he's on 150 at the moment), and has found it reasonably effective, particularly during the first few months of treatment or the first few months on an increased dose.
His doctor has recently suggested he try paroxetine as an alternative, particularly for his social anxiety. SWIM knows paroxetine is more of a "typical" anti-depressant than venlafaxine, and was wondering if any SWIY's can offer any opinions as to the pros and cons of the two drugs.
