Alcohol, Benzodiazepines and SSRI Poisoning
My good friend last night johnny drank 4 32 ounce high lifes, real fast, one right after one another and became severely ill right afterwards.
First went into convulsions, was also short of breathe, chest hurt, blacked out, woke up real fast with uncontrollable vomiting non stop, felt faint, pale, wasn't nervous was to sick and out of it. But obviously wound up in the E.R. They said nothing was wrong. Blood test and urinal tests were only given. Intravenous of promethazine was given. Only two other drugs that are taken daily is prozac and klonopin (0.5). But usually fine when drinking, even said it was OK to do by 2 doctors. Usually more is even more is drank on a daily basis. That's all that was done, no other substances. Ever happen to you before? Last edited by st3v3; 23-05-2008 at 23:20. |

Re: This Has Not Happened Before
Uh... Well first, the fact two doctors told you it's okay to take Klonopin, a Benzo, which can lead to violent blackouts (experienced them, went to jail for it), is ridiculous. What kind of doctors do you go to? This has been told to me by doctors, therapists, and every online source about Benzos. It's a fact.
And second, while benzos lower your seizure threshold, alcohol increases it. He could possibly have some kind of seizure disorder that isn't present unless brought out by drugs... Though, I'm not a doctor, and that's a guess. |

Re: This Has Not Happened Before
I'd say that's 128 oz. of alcohol, over 3 40 ouncers.
You guys did right taking him to ER- Half that amount would buzz most people. Any doctor worth their salt will tell you not to drink with prescription meds- manda added 9 Minutes and 42 Seconds later... http://www.rxlist.com/drugs/alpha_n.htm This site you can look up drug interactions and the like. Prozac and klonopin are not recommended to be mixed with booze. Last edited by manda; 01-06-2008 at 11:44. Reason: I screwed up |

Re: Alcohol, Benzodiazepines and SSRI Poisoning
Couldn't find this thread no more. Anyway, sounds logical enough. Johnny reports it hasn't happened again, good thing. Next time Johnny drinks will in deed show John' the Web Sites. Anyway, appreciate the responses.
