Does anyone make your own salvia divinorum extract?
I was wondering if there are anyone out there that is making their own
extract? Reason being is that I noticed the price of leaves is way cheaper than the extracts. The local store I purchase my product at sells 25X for $50 but I can also but 8oz of dried leaf for $200. 4 quarters in an OZ 8x4=32 so soak 31 1/4 oz's strain and then boil it down then let the rest dry over your last 1/4 oz and end up with 7grams 32x $200. seems simple |

Extracting crystals is not hard; all you need is acetone. http://www.erowid.org/plants/salvia/...raction2.shtml Some kinds of nail varnish remover are pure acetone. Intereesting that you say you can get the leaves cheaper, though. The extract is far better value where I get it. |

The leaves I am going to get have 4.25 mg per g of leaf. 8.8 ounces
costs just over $60. That is a far better deal than what I can buy extracts for. |

If you go to walmart and go to the paint section they have all kinds of neat thinners 100% acetone is one of them. No questions asked. I know I am a painter and have done it. |

Yep, acetone evaporates at thirty-something degreees (Celsius), so it's very easy to seperate the crystals. IPA is fine, too Sorry to get off-topic, but I pay €15 for 5g of leaves and €39 for 1g of 20X. The higher the X-number, the better the value, for me.

Off topic not really. I had asked just because it is cheaper
round here to get the leaf and make the extract. If it was cheaper for the extract why bother making it? Just for the fact that you know what and how it was handled and quality wouldn't be an issue. However it is not hard to find a quality supplier. The shop I buy from, the shopkeep knows the grower and they make the extract together, sounds good enough for me. |

Would butane work like in making honey oil? I know the product is
very thick but a small amount of acetone will diloute it and alow for leaf to soak up the goodies? sound feasable? |
