Piracetam and anxiety

SWIF took 1gram of piracetam over a 2 month period but he notices that when he ceases use for around 5 days he gets quite severe anxiety especially considering that many feel that piracetam is more of a supplement than a drug. More recently he even noticed that if he only had one dose in the morning sleeping sometimes was more difficult because of the anxiety. Is a withdrawal from piracetam normally expected? Have others experienced this? If not any idea's why SWIF is feeling like this, usually he sleeps like a log? Is there any way to lessen it?

Just a quick history in the fact that SWIF has never ever in his entire life felt anything even close to anxiety so this is quite strange for him. (and unpleasant)

Thanks any input welcome

Re: piracetam and anxiety

no replies to this at all? Maybe something else is causing the anxiety SWIF feels. Will look into it more.

Re: piracetam and anxiety

My panda never noticed any anxiety arising from cessation of piracetam use, but there were many other lifestyle factors and psychoactives used, so its hard to recall if he had experienced anything somewhat similar to what swiy described. Don't think my panda or his friends have ever encountered something like this though.

Re: Piracetam and anxiety

maybe something to do with choline ? I always feel a bit tensed when i stop taking piracetam. It makes me over alert for a while, as if i have taken too much alcar or alpha-gpc

Re: Piracetam and anxiety

You may want to look into Aniracetam, which can reduce anxiety due to it's effects on Serotonin 5-HT2A receptors.

Re: Piracetam and anxiety

SWIF took choline while using piracetam but not after it's use. The anxiety is gone now but it was unpleasant while it lasted. I think it's that very effect on 5-HT2A receptors that causes it when it's discontinued.

Re: Piracetam and anxiety

Further on this, im still shocked to find noone else experiencing this, 2 more subjects that are SWIF's friends experienced this. They conclude along with SWIF that it has quite alot to do with elevated cortisol release (stess hormone) leaving a subject feeling overworked and stressed. Which in some cases can be productive given, but SWIF still finds it hard sometime and overpowering even on 800mg doses. Maybe he's particularly sensative

Re: Piracetam and anxiety

I'd be interested to see how SWiY would react if he switched to ani.
SWiM has experienced some amount of anxiety/edginess from (stupidly) high doses of pi, but none from ani. Has SWiY tried ani?
I've never heard of a racetam discontinuation syndrome. Weird.

Re: Piracetam and anxiety

Im glad that some others are at least experiencing a little of what SWIF is. He may well try ani, but needs to do more research first as my knowledge of it is limited.
