ayahuasca + amphetamines = fatal?

I have read up on the diet to follow prior to ayahuasca , and some ppl
report that one thing to avoid before taking aya besides the huge list of foods is amphetamines (mdma , coke etc.) how long after SWIY has taken amphetamines is it safe to take ayahuasca?

No one can say with certainty how long one should wait, but a week sounds like a good figure. Avoiding amphetamines and other CNS stimulants is very important. A hypertensive-crisis is no small matter. It can kill a SWIM. Ditto for benzodiazepines and other depressants. The other side of the coin is a hypotensive-crisis, also to be avoided at all cost. MAOI's must be regarded with the greatest respect.

What would induce a hypointensive crisis in imbibing ayahuasca? Swim has only heard of the hyperintensive crisis.

Using benzos such as diazepam in conjunction with and MAOI could cause a hypotensive crisis, which is basically defined as a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Since both drugs lower BP they combine to lower it too much, so basically mixing any drung that lowers BP along with MAOI is bad news. As Panthers said, it would not be a good situation to find oneself in, possibly resulting in death.

Try reading up on the basics in the sticky at the top. Ayahuasca is a mix between a MAOi and DMT containing ingredient. It's the presence of the MAOinhibitor that inhibits the body from eliminating a variety of substances/toxins - which is why MDMA, psilocybin, and all the other drugs mentioned in this thread become potentially lethal.

With MAOi you sorta removes the natural defenses of the body that otherwise ensures your well-being and survival even if you've taking quite a lot of drugs (or eaten spoiled food). Remove that and the body is defenseless and fatal OD becomes a credible threat.

The reason why you DO take a MAOi with the DMT is that the DMT gets mopped up too fast to have a noticeable effect when the defenses are in place.

In swims experience the short answer is no, swim has smoked dmt with valium alcohol and mdma respectivley, great experience on mdma. Swim wouldnt want to take it while on coke though as It could be really heavy going on the heart, if your rushing on coke then smoke dmt there could be a huge strain on the heart when the dmt's hitting swiy, as the rush from that can be heavy on the heart when swims sober.
