Opinions - What Concert on LSD?

OK some of my friends are planning on dropping for the first time and asked me what would be a good band to listen to while having the time of their lives. We live in Southern California so the band would need to be touring somewhere between LA and San Diego over summer some time (early June is best). I've looked at radiohead, roger waters, infected mushroom, daft punk, dream theater, tool, incubus and none of them are touring round here.

So does anyone have any suggestions on some quality band who is also touring that would be nice for a first time tripper?

good question, I believe that one is to drop acid in public, they damn well better be ready for it (i.e. have previous experiences) Concerts and festivals can lead to some very creative times but they can be very overwhelming.

My lab cat is a very experienced LSD user and when he went to the Chemical Brothers show in Denver on 3 or 4 hits, he was owned by the chaotic and beautiful epic-ness of their show.

My advice is trying it before the concert and finding swiys bearings with the substance because, who knows, swiy might not like it too much without the right set and setting...

SWIY should never take LSD outside of a controlled setting for their first time. No exceptions.

If music is absolutely necessary go to a local band show that would preferably be within walking distance of someone's house, or have a sitter that can drive people away to a safe location...

Swim has only done the substance twice. He feels he isn't ready to do it in a situation like that. He thinks it is just uncomfortable to be around people not in the same mindset. Could be because he is new to tripping in general.

My friends seem pretty comfortable with other people around, especially a concert where people are assumed to be high. And if they were mostly sitting down while watching the concert it would be perfectly fine. I'm just not sure how easy it would be to navigate from the car to the seats and back, although that could turn out to be quite a fun journey. Can someone explain why it would be a big deal to trip out with others around? They have all done mushrooms and been fine with other people around, just as long as they aren't the wrong kinda people.

SWIM doesn't really see a problem with tripping among a tight group of friends so that even though it's public there is a sense of isolation among familiarity. And it would be wise to include another friend experienced with the drug to lead those new to it, or have a sober friend in order to make things go smoothly in the "seats to car" idea. The tighter the friends are, the better rate of success.

If people do decide to make their first experience at a concert of festival it would be a extremely important to take some type of benzo (valium, xanaax, etc.) with you. If SWIY started to freak out then a benzo would kill the trip and keep them from being carted off by an ambulance or worse, the cops. I have seen quite a few people at concerts have a bad trip and end up in serious trouble. In my opinion, people should not have their first psychedelic experience when they are surrounded by people they dont fully trust. If you decide to let your lab cats trip at a concert, I would stay away from aggressive music. My lab cats favorite band is TOOL, but it is very hard for him to handle them while tripping. Its hard to say what band would be good. One very good decision would be to go see a Pink Floyd cover band. There is one that tours the country all the time and puts on a show close to the original.

The Machine is a fantastic band. Puff and some friends dosed on the way to a Machine concert early this year, however unfortunately it turned out to be a DOx that they had taken and the whole concert was spent coming up. They started tripping right after the taxi dropped them off at home >_<

In other news, this person also went to Mardi Gras on LSD. Like previous posts suggest, _never_ do this without prior experience. If you have ever been to Mardi Gras you will understand how this is such a big deal. It wasn't a wise choice. This person got very lost in the French Quarter on a foggy evening. It was a very stereotypical LSD nightmare!

Definitely go for Phil and Friends or Bob Weir and RatDog. Absolutely everyone will be tripping, and it's very trip friendly music. Being around non-tripping people kind of psycs SWIM out when he's tripping, since he tends to act like a total acid freak. SWIM's second time trying acid, he took 6 very strong doses along with 2 mushroom chocolates and he had a wonderful time, maybe 15 minutes or so of anxiety throughout the entire trip.

Dose like 15 minutes before the show, enjoy dancing like a maniac, DRINK WATER, then go back and have a little acid test with your friends continuing to listen to the Grateful Dead.

SWIM would also say Bob Weir. SWIM's favorite old tripping band was Nektar. They were one of the origional psychedelic bands. They had the best light show in the world that was synched to the music. This was all before digital. They had a guy who was an expert in making the lights go. They would have a big projection screen behind them. I think they still tour. But this was before most of you SWIys were around I think.
