Re: seizure from tramadol? respond asap
It is crazy to rely on help over the Internet if you are seriously concerned about your health and think you may be having or about to have a seizure. You are not likely to get advice from a doctor who can give you real-time authoritative info over the Internet like this. If you are having real health difficulties then call 911.

Re: seizure from tramadol? respond asap
Seizures are a known side effect of tramadol. It doesn't look like SWIY shows sign's of overdose:
"Overdose symptoms of a tramadol overdose may include drowsiness, shallow breathing, slow heartbeat, extreme weakness, cold or clammy skin, feeling light-headed, fainting, or coma." It just seems like SWIY experienced withdrawal symptoms prior to the dose and then an adverse reaction perhaps. Here's a list of side effects, not symptoms of overdose, but common side effects to ANY amount of the active ingredient " [top]Tramadol side effectsGet emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop using tramadol and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

Re: seizure from tramadol? respond asap
Perhaps since you've been off it a week SWIyour has dropped? 400mg's should be ok, but I'm not a medic, and don't know what else you've been taking. Benzos will raise seizure threshold but increase respiratory depression, since your online now, I'm hoping SWIyou is ok. Could you share SWIyou're experiences?

Re: seizure from tramadol? respond asap
400mg is the maximum DAILY dose, i.e., the maximum recommended amount to take when spread out over a 24-hour period. It is a lot to take all at once.
I have read several reports of people saying that they often take a certain dose and have no problems with it...and then one day they take the same dose they've taken many times before, and they have a seizure for no apparent reason. Tramadol is risky for seizures...in SWIM's opinion the high is not really worth it. Look for a thread called "The Dangers of Tramadol Abuse" or something like that. |

Re: seizure from tramadol? respond asap
after 250-300 mg of tramadol, the experience doesnt get any better, only worse. Around then one would have lots of muscle twitches, and wouldnt be able to walk straight.
500 is pushing it... i have read experiences of people falling asleep, and waking up with holes in their tongue. Careful man. |

Re: seizure from tramadol? respond asap
Tramadol seizures are extremely common. You may be tempted to take more because you end up developing tolerance to its opioid effects, but on the other hand, you won't develop tolerance to tramadols seizure inducing and serotonin reactionary attributes, which makes tramadol past 400mg dangerous. It's a double edged drug, has helped many, and has brought misery to many. Tramadol is the least consisten opioid painkiller out there in terms of side effects... in other words, different people react to it differently far more than other painkillers.
Swim knows someone who has taken 800mg of tramadol daily, quiet safely, and swim also knows someone who has frequently had odd sleep disturbances, seizures, memory loss on small dosages such as 200mg of tramadol. It also depends on age, how long you have taken tramadol and physical health as well as your neural makeup. Tramadol users, who often really want to experience to opioid euphoria given at the beginning, frequently take doses that leads to the knowing of o.d.or the knowkedkge of a possible seizure. How to overcome such moments: Keep your brain concentrated on something that requires interction, avoid watching films or tv since seizures tend to come during moments where the brain becomes locked. Drink loads of tea, and coffee, stay active, do not let your mind for one second drif off as it could be a seizure. Walk around and do some tasks and it will soon be over. Such advice has helped many overcome that o.d. sensation associated with Tramadol. The worst thing is to give in and lay down or stop wanting to keep the mind active. Diazepam helps loads too, if you feel you have a seizure coming take a diazepam, perhaps 5mg, 10mg at most. Diazepam is known to kill some of the tramadol high too. Hope this has helped some of you. joojoo99 added 14 Minutes and 10 Seconds later... On another note, if you have taken two different dosages of tramadol at different timepoints, especially within an hour of the o.d. sensation, try force puking (forcing yourself to puke) which will help loads, especially if you have ingested time release (retard) formations of tramadol, since they stay in the stomach for many hours slowly dissolving. Puking itself, even many hours after tramadol ingestion is known to sometimes reverse the o.d. sensation simply because puking itself releases hormones to counteract imbalance or neural tension. Re: seizure from tramadol? respond asap
Using tramadol over 100mg often for SURE requires tapering off. Especially with high doses like 400-500mg, you really need to taper off instead of going cold turkey. Remember, there is an SSRI/SNRI part to tramadol. Coming off antidepressants for long time/high dose is unsafe as well.
Slowly lower the dose, perhaps 50-100mg per day until Swiy is not using anymore. Also, be careful of what other drugs you mix, tramadol is easily aggravated by certain drugs to increase seizure likelihood. And yes, going over 300mg is a WASTE. Even if you build up tolerance, upping the dose will NOT give you more positive effects. Going upwards of 300mg only increases negatives, and exponentially. Seizure is more likely. Tramadol is one drug that requires discipline. And true, tramadol does different things to different people, moreso than other opioids. Everyone needs to play nice with this one. Swim never had seizures but never took over 300mg, never mixed, and has ZERO family and personal history of seizure or epilepsy. |

Re: seizure from tramadol? respond asap
In everybodies experience, do you think Swim should take 2 x Tramadol 100mg SR whilst on 60mg of Fluoxetine?
Swim's never had a siezure and no family history. This is strictly for recreational purposes. |

No way. Serotonin syndrome is a possibility, no point risking it.

Re: seizure from tramadol? respond asap
Perhaps one will have learned from ones mistakes?
Taking 400mg after coming off for a little bit is a mistake. Most people know that tolerance drops sharply. A careful person would have had about 100mg if they had felt crap from WD rather than 400mg. It is better to crave a little . . Than to be dead a lot . . . . Peace
