Yes, that was a very unfortunate turn of phrase to say the least (true colours will always shine forth).

Thanks for the updates.

At least it does not appear that they will offer us the same package in October. It sounds like there may be changes and that any new referendum will not be until Spring (obviously it has to be before France takes over the presidency as Sarkozy does not want the shit on his pretty little doorstep).

Re: The Lisbon Treaty and Drug Policy

So the rerun of this referendum is now just a couple of weeks away. I am unsure which way I should vote but am furious at being made to vote again because the government didn't get the answer they hoped for.

As far as I can see very little has changed apart from the Governemnt giving guarantees on certain matters.

I'm thinking "No".

You and me both Abrad. I voted No the first time around, but I'm leaning towards a "Yes" this time. I find it incredibly tiresome the way both sides use scaremongering tactics rather than actually concentrating on issues. Whatever way people vote, I hope they do not do so out of a dislike for the current incumbents of the Dail, but out of reasons relating to the treaty itself.

Re: The Lisbon Treaty and Drug Policy

SWIM's undecided and probably won't vote. He's pretty-much given up on the democratic process for the time being. There's never anyone worth voting for in local, general and European elections. He'll probably still vote on referendums and he is qualified to vote on the Seanad, though it barely makes a difference so he doesn't see the point. That's one area of Irish government that's completely underused. One vote never, ever makes a difference in large elections.
