The danger of MDMA + MAO-I

So swim gets that MAO Inhibitors stop the MAO's from destroying those poor little monoamine neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, and that the hydrogen peroxide created from metabolizing serotonin is neurotoxic (because it oxidizes the neurons, which is bad for them) to the serotonin receptor neuron, along with the dopamine that can accidentally be attracted as well. But anyways, to swim's actual question here, why does the MAO-I prove to be so deadly? Swim sees that they would stop that MAO's from metabolizing all the serotonin, so wouldnt that make one just roll harder? Or does it just go to far?

also, while swiy is at it, look up hypertensive crisis. MAOI's are not to be messed with and swim severly suggests against doing this combo unless they want to have a fever temp and a very very dead brain.

SWImetal is probably getting mixed up with SSRI's, which might protect the brain against neurotoxicity if taken a few hours after MDMA. But this is my no means proven anyway.

As for MAOIs and MDMA-- generally thought to be dangerous.

Yup. MAOI's + Amphetamines = Potential Serious Trip to Hospital. Don't prove this hypothesis. But that's what the warnings are for such a combination. Same for downers like benzodiazepines with an MAOI. That can/will trigger a hypo(not hyper)tensive crisis.

Swim is definitely not mixing up SSRI's with MAOI's, swim talked about fatal interractions with MAOI and E, which is clearly not the case with SSRI and E (SWIM did read about how prozac may even help neurotoxicity). Also to let everyone know swim was not thinking about trying this, far from it! He is just very interested in the way chemicals interact in the brain.

Point taken, but SWIM is NOT going to experiment with MDMA and MAOIs.
