hypnosis and self hypnosis

I am very very curious and am trying to find good information on the subject of hypnosis and self hypnosis.

The thought of using those teks for people with addictions, compulsive behavior, gambling, porn.

I have been doing Google searches and have really come up short.

I would like to ask the forum , has anyone any expeirence on the subject, and is it a viable cure or option?

that is a good question, I wonder how it would work on any and all of those, and then some others.

I am curious most about the addicts who are having difficult time with their habit.

I have been in those shoes, and dont recall any mention of hypnosis. thanx

The other day I watched a video of a panel discussion with Sasha & Ann Shulgin and Myron Stolaroff titled, "Getting the Most from Psychedelics". (Part I is in the DF archive, and the other parts can be found on YouTube.)

In it, Ann Shulgin discusses the psychotherapy work she does with others and says that she uses both psychedelics and hypnosis. She said that she thinks that hypnosis is an extremely powerful and helpful tool - as much as psychedelics, if not more so. This is quite a statement about the power of hypnosis, coming as it is from one of the leading proponents of psychedelics who is certainly aware of the power of those drugs.

I don't know if her use of hypnosis is to help people break addictions or to work through other types of personal issues, but I'm sure that it would be applicable to addiction problems.

You might want to look into some of the books written by Milton Erickson. He was a famous psychiatrist who specialized in hypnosis. I've had a couple of his books on my reading list for a while now, but haven't had a chance to read them yet. (My list seems to be getting exponentially longer! )

Mind Games: The Guide to Inner Space by Robert Masters is an excellent book to use for using with self-hypnosis to achieve fascinating states of consciousness. In fact, John Lennon (the ol' Walrus himself) extolled it's virtues some years back. As good today as then.
