I have read in several places that anti-seizure meds such as Dilantin and even alcohol can decrease the amount of methadone by up to 40% in a very short time, depsite methadones halflife...something to keep in mind,

Hey,
They say that downing a couple of aspirin will thin out your blood stream and allow more methadone in. I don't know this to be true... if it were, alchohol is also known to thin the blood stream and you would think that it would be similar but I've heard many of the same pro-aspirin people say that it is bad to drink while on opiates "cuz it'll you'll ruin your high"... whatever. It does make sense to me not to drink too much while dealing with physical opiate withdrawal because a hangover on top of opiate withdrawal can be a real bad motherfucker to deal with… and I know this from experience. Oddly enough, in my experience I’ve found that Dextromethorphan can work well with methadone and can help through the initial quitting stage, few agree with me. There is some quality in dissociatives that has helped take some of the edge off many of my withdrawals. I’ve only met one other person that feels the same way, everyone else disagrees.
Totally off topic, I truly believe that liquid methadone can be less effective than the pill form of the drug... and recently (while staring at the white flashing lines of an Ohio highway) I have come up with a pretty simple theory to back this. When drinking a syrup the material will naturally coat it's way down in to your stomach. This could cause an unknown amount to be absorbed in to your mouth and other areas much like a topical anesthetic, never really making it to your blood stream. My mouth always goes numb when drinking methadone syrup and I think that backs my theory a little. One might not notice the difference if they are on a high dosage, but if you are on a low dosage, and trying to kick, every little bit seems to make a difference.
