SWIM feeling rubbish after heavy drug binges

SWIM has taken drugs 4 times. Coccaine twice and pills & mdma twice. The third time SWIM took drugs SWIM took 5 pills and the 4th SWIM took 2 lumps of mdma and about 4 pills making SWIM trip out.
Anyway to cut a long story short 5 weeks on SWIM still regrets these experiences and feels really depressed, paranoid and worried about permanent damage?SWIM feels depressed for no reason depite having no problems and just generally feels like a zombie. Will SWIM ever recover and is there anything that can be done to feel better as SWIM just wants to feel better again and realises the high doses were ridiculous!?

Title probably isn't going to get the most sympathy!

Re: SWIM feeling rubbish after heavy drug binges

I'm certainly glad that SWIM realizes the excessive doses were not the brightest idea. SWIM is advised to eat healthy foods, take vitamins and minerals, and get plenty of rest for awhile. This shall pass and SWIM will pull out of the temporary depression he is undergoing. If it were a chronic(long-lasting) depression, SWIM wouldn't have noticed the shift.

Tell SWIM not to worry. He'll be fine soon.

Re: SWIM feeling rubbish after heavy drug binges

It sounds like it's all in SWIM head. Mild cocaine and MDMA use even if it's a binge probably will not cause long term depression or neurotoxicity. From my experience, most people have been conditioned to think, from a very young age drugs = game over. Having an experience with drugs is defiantly not the end of the world. As for MDMA, SWIM has had some experience with MDMA, and it has been a positive force in his life. SWIMs friends would probably echo that last sentence.

I have quite the contrary opinion. I have never heard a report following an MDMA/ecstasy binge where long-term effects weren't felt weeks on end. Even more exacerbated when the user had already used MDMA/ecstasy. It's extremely common for long-term depression type feelings to persist and a general "I feel like shit" feeling. If someone escapes this fate after binging once, congratulations, you got very lucky, now don't push your luck.

Re: SWIM feeling rubbish after heavy drug binges

I probably won't even need to go through the ecstasy experiences thread to find ample support

http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56444 depression 6 months after extended period of heavy use
http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=54779 another one granted it's by the same user but shows variety in physical symptoms reported "general feeling like shit which I mentioned"
http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/sho...57&postcount=6 this post shows a good example of how frequent usage gives bad aftereffects.
http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46827 chronicles a single heavy dose, and later in the thread there is someone mentioning "noticeable personality changes after a heavy MDMA use"
http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45736 just the title says it all here "Serious crash after ecstasy binge"

If you need more convincing that heavy MDMA use has negative health effects, then denial might be the issue, not the chemical.

Re: SWIM feeling rubbish after heavy drug binges

I don't doubt that heavy MDMA use causes depression. I doubt that taking MDMA twice could cause depression, or long term depression. I think it is possible that it’s in SWIMs head. People are conditioned from a very young age that drugs will ruin your life. Some of SWIMs friends who found out he did ecstasy said things like, "every time I see you you're high" or "I don't even know you anymore". This is pretty funny because at the time of these comments SWIM had done ecstasy once six months prior to these comments. Another good example of drugs = game over, is the classic “I’ve been down that road, trust me man you don’t want to go there”. Sadly most of these people are trying to sound badass and consequently give everyone that misconceived notion that doing any drug once, will ruin your life.

SWIY will be fine. Just try to adopt a healthier lifestyle, good diet and keep your mind occupied and your body will stick all the nutrients in the right places. SWIY'll be back up to scratch in no time.

Re: SWIM feeling rubbish after heavy drug binges

My pet goldfish Shelly thinks that swiy is just depressed based on guilt, or moreover, based on the desire to feel that way more often. Shelly also thinks that a strong foundation in one's life can make recreational drug use something far greater than altering one's mind / body. Swiy should try to find many hobbies like sports, or videogames, and good friends to fill voids in swiy's life. Then, when swiy is trippin on acid, rollin on mdma, or blowing snow, its something special everytime and the next day is simply another day.
This is what SHelly believes in the difference between a recreational user, and an addict is the ability to experience joy in all areas of onces life with or without the help of a substance.

Re: SWIM feeling rubbish after heavy drug binges

To support RaverHippie, someone I know had massive problems as a result of a single strong dose. Also see http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60219 and my reply. Search through my pevious posts from a few years back and you'll discover an experience of someone I know. Quite similar. In short nothing but a healthy lifestyle and no drugs for a long time (with the exception of the occasional drink) will cure it. It's really tough for the first few months (or longer depending on your binging) but it gradually gets better. Some people are just predisposed to sensitivity to serotonin changes.
