Ok, everybody wants there dog to find the weed but how do you do it?

SWIM thought it's a bit more complicated then most people would think.
Like the toy itself to train the dog is not weed its just, kept in a box with weed to smell like weed?

Dogs can't find drugs, they are just coaxed into alerting by their handlers. Haha.

Word on the street is that the dogs are trained by scenting their ball/toy with the drug and the dog eventually connects the two. If it smells some dope the ball must be around so it tweaks out.

I can confirm that this is untrue. SWIMS uncle works for a dog training company, and as some other swimmer stated above dogs are trained in a Pavlovian manner to hunt out their toy by honing in on an associated scent.

EDIT:

As a followup, if one wanted to train his dog to "hunt" out a certain scent, SWIM would recommend researching Pavlov's dogs to get an overview of how the training works, then obtaining a video on dog training (there are many law enforcement resources available to inform SWIY for the best methods for training a dog).

SWIM's friend tried to train his dog to find weed and it resulted in her eating a 1/2 oz out of his stash when he wasn't home. So make sure SWIY finds the right way to train a dog, because it could end badly.

swims friend believes there dog ate weed, not 14 grams of it, but maybe up to a 4 gram nug of dank, there dog pissed themselves in the bed, swayed back in forth for hours, and the dog even fell backwards when it was sitting down.

that dog must have been sky highhh...holy crap...

I dunno if there are differences b/w scents. I would *presume* that it has to do with how potent the smell is in the first place, but dogs smell like we see (well, kinda...but they can differentiate scents better than humans). I will have to ask him and I'll report back with my findings.

drug scents are used to train sniffer dogs and are available from monitored online suppliers, and are used for the specific purpose of training dogs...!
swim believes that it would probably take at least a year or 2 to train a dog for this purpose and would be ALOT of hard work....but would also be a very coolhobby and could be quite profitable!(swim does not however advocate stealing peoples pot!)
if any1 finds any guides to training dogs to 'search' please share as swicr is (and has been for years) very interested in training a dog to smell for ambigrus(spell?).sperm whalespew thats used in french perfumes and is worth heapsand apparantly quite prevalent in swicrs area!!!!!
