Can GHB have a taste?

Hello.
SWIM has done the MrG recipe for the second time.
The taste of powder is slightly "gbl-ish", even if it is more saltish.
The first time swim did the recipe the taste was pure salt.

But in this 2nd recipe SWIM added gbl (more than "a few mils") in the 6th step because his Ph was too high. Then the ph was ok (sadly swim don't remember how many it was). Pieces of GHB are salty, and other pieces are "gbl-ish".

SWIM asks "can it be dangerous"? SWIM tested this 2nd powder and it works but swim fears that the caustic soda can be present in this powder .
SWIM is very nooby in chemistry.

Kekemore, did the extra gbl swiy added react fully with the mixture? Did swiy keep the heat up above 104c ? If not swiy may have some unreacted caustic soda in the mix. If the overall ph is neutral it shouldn'nt be harmfull, but reheating it may help to make the unreacted gbl and soda react. The above advice is given with the understanding that this is a theoretical experiment!

Well the caustic soda isn't really going to very "causticy" once the pH has been neutralised. All the same though, it's not good technique to have to add in extra GBL.

End product should be fine as long as the pH was balanced, but any further theoretical experiments should be focused on keeping things neat and tidy in future.

To avoid this all too common error, people should be considering measuring the pH of the solution after *every* addition of the NaOH. That way they can't get it wrong. Surely.
