Re: Piracetam - Questions and Answers

SWIM has never noted this effect. In fact, SWIM finds that if anything, SWIMs tolerance to alcohol is higher than its ever been. SWIM takes piracetam everyday.
Well, YMMV, as always. Maybe SWIM's just tolerant to this effect after using this for a couple of years now.

Re: Piracetam - Questions and Answers

Swim doesn't have enough experience with piracetam to be able to evaluate its synergistic effects with alcohol. The effects he has obtained from the alcohol-piracetam combination may just be from his not supplementing his regimen with choline, or some other factor.

Also, I want to note that swim doesn't so much notice a very strong effect in regards to influencing alcohol tolerance when he takes piracetam in the morning as he does regularly, but he does notice a change in the level of effects alcohol has on him when he takes piracetam in close proximity to drinking. This may be the issue here, or as you said it could just be a temporary effect that diminishes over time. Too difficult to tell at this point.

Re: Piracetam - Questions and Answers

If I missed it please point me in the right direction and yes I did UTFSE. If I wanted to use nootropic's to improve cognitive function would there be a problem taking them in combination with SSRI's?

Also, does anyone have any experience with the shilajit?

It's Indias "wonder drug". My buddy said he takes it for anti-aging and improved cognitive functions and I guess it grows on some mountain side somewhere. When I posted this I was offered a lot for free when I showed a friend interest in this genre of drugs but did not know enough about it so declined.

Re: Piracetam - Questions and Answers

Swim started taking Piracetam a few days ago. She takes 1200mg daily. She has used it many times before, and never had a problem with it.
This time she seems to get pain in the renal area. Her kidneys don't seem to agree with the Piracetam.
She is currently not on any other drug, so that is not the problem.

It seems Piracetam is given in lower doses to people with renal problems, but can Piracetam cause renal problems? Or does this pain mean that Swim has a kidney problem, and it has nothing to do with the Piracetam?

Re: Piracetam - Questions and Answers

Swim thinks Swio should get checked out by a professional either way. Try moderating your dose, but do get checked out. It's likely nothing, but it may reveal a problem you never knew you had.

Swim's interested if anyone's been able to find Piracetam any place besides the internet, just to see if it's possible. He finds online buying a little shady, but hasn't had any luck at local health/herbal/supplement stores.

If it's causing pain in the renal area - and it's used in lower doses with people with renal problems - then stop taking it immediately! See your physician.

Re: Piracetam - Questions and Answers

Probably a coincidence. Piracetam does not cause kidney damage, but is primarily eliminated by the kidneys, hence lowering the dose in those with kidney disease (to compensate for longer serum half-life, as it is not metabolized). However, the batch may be impure or adulterated. It could be a coincidence which is probably most likely since it did not cause problems before. Visit to the doc is the best advice with any sudden onset of kidney pain.
SWIM does recall that 5meoDIPT used to always cause some sharp, annoying but not painful sensations in the region of the kidneys. Only happened on that chemical - never seemed to amount to anything as SWIM has had bloodwork then and more recently with no changes, and that stuff's long gone...

Re: Piracetam - Questions and Answers

Thanks guys, Swim went to her doctor but is still waiting for blood and urine sample results.

It's very unlikely that there was a problem with the Piracetam itself, since it was bought from the pharmacy with a subscription.

Swim wants to know the legality of piracetam/nootropil after he was refunded his money and the item wasn't shipped from america. Swim was told that the company he ordered from is not allowed to ship to the UK.

Re: Piracetam - Questions and Answers

Ok, so some more piracetam questions regarding interactions. SWIM has been taking piracetam for a few weeks now. It should potentiate psychedelics. This pleases SWIM. However his concerns regard the following:
Ketamine
Alcohol
Salvia
Piperazines
Any experiences regarding how long one needs to abstain from piracetam for ketamine to regain its normal potential?
Anyone know if by not taking any piracetam at all for the day (and possibly the day prior... time suggestions?) that one plans to drink, would this be doing them any favors in terms of neurotoxicity and effects?
Any experiences with Salvia and piracetam? Potentiate? Diminish? No effect?
And finally, any experiences involving piracetam and piperazines?
SWIM is very curious. Cheers

Re: Piracetam - Questions and Answers

One other quick question on this topic. If SWIY is using piracetam, why piracetam over the other racetams? SWIM personally likes piracetam thus far and understands it has the longest history of safe use and such, but is considering trying other's for two main reasons: higher potency means less powder to capsule and also means cheaper shipping for the product. Is this logic flawed? Are there some important points SWIM is missing?

Re: Piracetam - Questions and Answers

Some like the others better. The downsides are that they are more expensive and the effects are not as consistent. Aniracetam is speedy for many and also a bit mind-dulling in higher doses (for SWIM). Oxyracetam seems to work about as well as Piracetam. SWIM has not tried any others, but given the efficacy of the plentiful, cheap piracetam, SWIM does not see the point of the others, though a little aniracetam stacked on a normal piracetam regimen does seem to give it a boost (ie 100-200 mg).

A certain panda used Ketamine while on a piracetam regimen and didn't find it especially weak. He was snorting it and got a very disassociating experience, though not quite a K-hole. He isn't sure about the exact dose taken, but it didn't seem like it was much more than it would have to be normally.

It's a POM (prescription only medicine) which means SWIF would surely need a prescription to obtain it. but then SWIF has read elsewhere that in this case it's legal to buy an import for personal use. There is alot of conflicting information, was just looking for someone to clear it up.

As long as it's unscheduled but POM, selling it is a gray area. Possession is legal though - in most places anyways.

Re: Piracetam - Questions and Answers

im confused over the tolerance issue with piracetam?
Is it taken everyday for an extended period, do its effects get stronger or weaker with frequent use?
Roughly how long does one take it for?
Does a one of dose have any effect?

SWIM takes it all the time, finds the effects to be about the same. The main difference is that the user gets used to it, so the quicker thinking does not seem as pronounced over time. At least that's SWIM's experience...
