Rambo found tramadol + codeine to be a very good analgesic
Short version: see end. My dog Rambo suffers from very bad dental pain nearly everyday due to years of not looking after his teeth, he is currently on the public waiting list to get about 4 of them pulled but until them he legitimately sees a doc(yes he see"s human docs because he thinks they are much better than vets) for the pain. The doc has tried all non opioid treatments without any success and has finally prescribed him a med called Endone in his country with is straight oxycodone 5mg non time release. Rambo hasent needed to take any yet but he knows the pain will get worse in the future and he will eventually. ATM with 1 panadine fort(500paracetamol + 30mg codiene) and one nurofen plus(200mg ibprofen + 12mg codiene) allows him to function but theres still some pain. Well the other night before he got the oxy's he was in extreme pain, the kind of dental pain that literally wants to make you slit your wrists, he had been trying the tramadol all night with no results. So he resorted to making up a CWE of 400mgs codiene(rambo has a high tolarance to codiene due to past CWE abuse). With about 300mgs of tram already in his system, as soon as that codiene ran down his throat and hit his gut it obliterated any and all pain and about an hour later was into a heavy nod, not an unpleasant one, but a good nod. I don't know if its just his body chemistry or what but after further treatments of this combo he has found it to be an extremely good analgesic combo. He hasent used it since he got the endone because he knows the endone will be just as good if not better and alot safer. Short version: Tramadol + codeine in the right dosage was a very potent analgesic for my dog rambo's dental pain.
