To this day, Flashbacks is one of my favorite books.
Flashbacks tells the tale of how Timothy Francis Leary discovers how to literaly program the human mind. Learn how he uses it to free people of their egotistical burdens. A relaxed but addictive read. You will not want to put it down, and you will be angry when its over.
Although he was considered a sucessful psychologist by
many, he was unsatisfied with his work. He found that "no matter what type of pyschological treatment he administered, only one third of the patients got better".
After being introduced to magic mushrooms he stated something like, "I have learned more in this one experience with psilocybin mushrooms than I have with 16 years of psychology.
You meet alot of important individuals from the drug culture of Timothys era. From Marilyn Monroe, Hunter S. Thompson, and William S. Burroughs to Ralph Metzner, Rom Doss, and Ken Kesey. Thats merely a sample of the interesting people and celebritys appearing in Flashbacks. Theres even a speacial appearance with Charly Manson.
Timothy Leary, aka The LSD Guru, became one of the leaders of the psychedelic culture alongside Ken Kessey, leader of the Merry Pranksters. Only Timmy's approach was geared towards enlightenment and meditation, opposed to Ken Keseys wild and crazy Acid Tests. Timmy takes you to Mexico to pick mushrooms, India in search of true enlightenment, and even to the depths of an american state prison.
If your interested in Psychedelic drugs, Enlightenment, Psychology, or even the JFK assasination, Then this book is for you. But dont take my word for it. Read it for yourself.
And I was about to send in the Flying Nuns with Rulers!
Seriously though - looks good. After I'm through with my thick treatise on chemical warfare, I might look up the good doctor Tim in his margarine palace.
