How to truly handle and control an LSD trip
SWIM has done acid, and enjoys the insight and sometimes the hilarity that this chemical induces. SWIM has no worries about bad trips, or it being too intense, but would rather learn to gain full control in order to enhance the experience, how to really let yourself get lost, yet be in control at the same time... Any comments?

Re: How to truly handle and control an LSD trip
I second the above recommendation. My friend always finds his deepest insights and most powerful immersions in psychedelia occur in the breathy depths of meditation. If meditation is not your friends bag, have them try taking a shower with all the lights off, or even a candle flickering. It is so easy, especially with LSD, to get engrossed in the visceral and sensory stimulation. If one can cut themselves off from this stimulation, the magnifying glass is quickly turned from sounds and colors to thoughts and concepts.

Re: How to truly handle and control an LSD trip
Meditation during tripping certainly aids in reaching the higher realms of consciousness. The dose has alot to say too of course, and SWIM feels a certain amount is necesary but one should have a decent amount of experience with psychedelics before trying higher doses. The best advice SWIM has ever gotten is 'Go with the flow'. Don't try and control the experience, have faith in the substance as a tremendous teacher if you let it be. Control is the ego's territory and trying to control the experience can result in alot of unecessary struggling. In SWIMs experience (and tons of others through history) the ego is a hinderance and a succesful ego-death-rebirth experience can open up to more subtle spiritual realms and blissful samadhi-states. SWIM had a kundalini awakening after some intense sessions where he went through the ego death process frequently in a period. This spawned all the crazyness SWIM could want and then some.
Different measures should be taken if one is freaking out, but if the session is going well SWIM says let go, and go with the flow of things. SWIY won't go crazy and there's always a tad of rationality left if needed. As mentioned above sensory deprevation also aids alot and blindfolds as they use(d) in psychedelic therapy can be a help in that. SWIM had a pair of so-called Mindfolds from Alex Grey's webshop which brought him much joy (untill he trashed them while stumbling around on ketamine sometime :/) They are quite comfortable to wear and excludes all light. Re: How to truly handle and control an LSD trip
Knock yourself out. Its the only way to fail-safe stop a bad trip. Even then you might have some bad dreams.
Cllm beautful scenarios, chilled people who will talk you down, fruit, etc etc |

![]() Swims suggestion would be to not smoke weed, the trip gets stronger and could potentially become uncontrollable. You just have to remain in a stable mindstate and not let yourself get dragged into the trips/delusions you may have, remembering that you're just tripping etc. Smaller doses will help. If people + setting + current mindstate is all very good, then there shouldn't be many problems. |

Re: How to truly handle and control an LSD trip
When some psychotics gave Bongo some powerful Berkeley liquid LSD25 one night - and tried to convince Bongo that every thought in his head was being beamed in by the CIA using "microwave-guns" - Bongo fled to the large, tiled bathroom. Excellent acoustics. And Bongo proceeded to Ommmmmmmmm..... for the rest of the night. The sound, coupled with the detachment from thought - while not resisting them, just watching the show from what he calls his 'Catbird-Seat - allowed Bongo incredible range while being fully centered.
The lunatics pounding at the door, shouting "Microwaves!!" - did not affect Bongo in the least. Much to their disappointment. |

My tip with psychedelic drugs:
Don't lose control and don't try to keep control either. Just let it go. "Turn off your mind, relax and float down stream." |

Re: How to truly handle and control an LSD trip
not recommending this, but just thought swiy'd find it amusing-
my buddy was coming down from the trip...he felt nauseous. he went outside, threw up quite a bit, came back in and said to me "woah im tripping balls!!" it was nuts how throwing up made him start beaming. as for swiys question. swim was PISSED that she waited so long to try acid due to fear and stories from other people. all the stories she heard were false. mind you swim is not the most stable person in the world, but was actually able to control her emotions, and put her mind where she wanted it. the only thing she couldnt control was the 6 consecutive hours of laughing her ass off. then 6 hours of gorgeous colors, designs, deep spiritual insight and much more. the key to a good trip is your company, and your environment. make sure swiy is tripping in a familiar place he/she can control. such as if a crisis happened, swiy has to be in a position of control and still be tripping. never trip with acquaintances. trip with someone swiy trusts. swim took two blotters, put em on her tongue and had a beer or two. the alcohol definitely helped swims transition into tripping and it took away all anxiety. she almost forgot. and if swiy got low-grade acid, have opiates (oc's, percs, whatever) on hand to prevent a sore back. Swim luckily got some good stuff and had no pain except for her stomach from all the laughing. UpAllNiteOCXTC added 9 Minutes and 59 Seconds later... swim tries to stay away from boundaries...she lets her mind give recognition to the beautiful simple things that she'd ordinarily not see. swim knows herself, and is comfortable with herself, simultaneously knowing what places to focus on, and what places NOT to go. swim is with a friend or two she's known forever, and doesnt feel like she has to control anything , unless something out of the ordinary happened. swim believes most stories she's been told are urban legends and just caused unnecessary apprehension. swims going to go reminisce now... UpAllNiteOCXTC added 16 Minutes and 18 Seconds later... you know what, i just went back a re-read the main question and i realized i didnt really answer it. haha sorry for the essay and being off topic..
