Drug info - DOB sold as LSD: Need chemistry help!

SWIM linked up with a knowledgable friend who informed SWIM that the beautiful blotter SWIM found was not LSD, but DOB. The taste was said to be much more alkaline, and the trip is slightly more energetic, and less spiritual. Also seems to create some major crampage during comedown. DOB is apparently an "amphetamine analog" of LSD. Now how is this possible? SWIM read that LSD is a partial agonist of the serotonin receptor - meaning it amplifies the effect of endogenous serotonin, whereas Amphetamine is a dopamine receptor agonist, causing a huge letdown of dopamine. What does DOB do to the brain? Any chemistry/psychopharm gurus out there? How can it mimic the visual symmetry, body sensations similar to that of lucy?

Browsing the research chemical forum would yield other bountiful knowledge as well. Since these chemicals fall under research chemical status, that affords them a state of unstudied mechanisms of action and just speculation on which serotonin receptors they bind to. AFAIK.

How was it determined that the blotter contains DOB? Gas chromatograph?

Search engines suck with three-letter words. When searching for something like "DOB," you want to use an asterix, which acts like a "wild card." Thus, the term to use to search for DOB would be:

DOB*

As with other methoxylated amphetamines and phenethylamines, if you could see the molecules on paper and bent it ever so slightly - it would take on the characteristic shape on an indole. Indole being the nucleus of serotonin, DMT, psilocybin, LSD, and others. This accounts for such as DOB acting as a serotonergic psychedelic, as well as working on the dopamine in the brain.

plenty of info avaiable on DOB. Suggest that you start with shulgins PIKHAL entry on this substance. If you have used LSD before, you should have noticed the difference in action, length to onset and duration of action. How do you know it was DOB?

SWIM noticed about the same onset time. When it initially hit it was more intense and less wavelike. It seemed more forceful, and less fluid. SWIM did not notice a difference in the duration, it seemed to last for the same length of time, maybe an hour or two longer. The taste is different, much more bitter. The trip is different, a lot more body load and actually a lot of cramping. SWIM doesn't know what to do with this, too many side effects. SWIM had a friend who knew his psychedelics and identified it. Up until then SWIM did not know why it was different.

Thanks for that extra info. Sure, the body load and cramping plus extra length of action probalby indicates a DOx, but SWIM couldn't tell the difference between DOB and DOI (SWIM hasn't tried DOC). Not much point in trying to guess which it was. Real problem in SWIM's view is that too many blotters out there now being passed off as cid. Real shame that cid precursors so well controlled and too many punters eating whatever they can get now. Enuf DOx documented deaths already, without adding further unsuspecting punters.

Yes, I agree. Dirty chemists they are. The problem is that they go so far down the line that no one knows what they really are and most people are too inexperienced to tell the difference. At least SWIM will be able to identify this little number before dosing next time! SWIM also noticed that the glow under black light is a little different, cid glows blue and looks very liquid, whereas DOB glows bright white and looks like some kind of rough powder. Quite correct about LSD25 glowing a bluish color. But remember: This test only establishes that what one has, if it glows, MIGHT be LSD25.

Again, helpful comments and swim understands swiy's comment. But, as SWIM understands it, a quick check is at least going to tell if it is definitetly NOT LSD-25?

This is commonly added to such things as laundry detergent("Make your clothes Whiter than White!"), paper products("Super WHITE paper! Twice the price! Isn't that nice?!"), and a whole plethora of other things. It's a big industry.

Quite correct about LSD25 glowing a bluish color. But remember: This test only establishes that what one has, if it glows, MIGHT be LSD25.
