Kawa Kawa (Macropiper excelsum)
http://www.medsafe.govt.nz/regulator...(Kawakawa).pdf
I have tried it twice. Initial effects were some what sedating but strangely arousing. Mild dose of 3 fresh medium leaves boiled with lemon juice and then added apple tea later. Produce a spicy brew that went down very well. It didn't remind me of nutmeg really, nor bzp but maybe kava crossed with viagra |

Re: Kawa Kawa (Macropiper excelsum)
Kawa is Kava is Kawa. It has been spelled both ways. They are the same thing - piper methysticum - no matter what some free-marketeer wishes to sell it as. Properly it would be spelled thus: Kava~Kava.

Re: Kawa Kawa (Macropiper excelsum)
actually thats incorrect panthers!
Kawakawa is a native plant/tree from New Zealand and the name 'kawakawa' is actually a traditional maori name for the plant...however i believe it is related to kavakava.. http://www.aoteamoana.co.nz/tradition/kawakawa.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macropiper_excelsum http://www.kiwiherb.co.nz/getHerbProfile.cfm?herbid=22 swim as yet has not tried, but was going to purchase and grow a plant for swims self, but 1 of swims monkeys reported that the tincture was not so great and gave some undesired results(cant remember exactly what they were) |

Re: Kawa Kawa (Macropiper excelsum)
Perhaps my source materials are dated then. Kawa was said to be the same animal. But I'm guessing they never bothered with a full investigation. Typical.
I stand corrected. Mea culpa. |

Re: Kawa Kawa (Macropiper excelsum)
Kava Kava is also sometimes called Kawa Kawa in some Countries. The native New Zealand Kawa Kawa (Macropiper excelsum) is closely related to Kava Kava but its chemistry is closer to Nutmeg. When the Maori came to NZ from the Pacific Islands they recognized the similarity of Kawa Kawa to their beloved Kava Kava and prepared it the same way, likely resulting in one hell of a strange trip
