Requip (Ropinirole) and Psychoactives
Now, SWIM was recently diagnosed, in addition to the essential tremor he had before, with Restless Legs Syndrome, Periodic Limb Movement Disorder, myalgia, and a minor parkinsonistic symptom group. He was prescribed Requip, in addition to his propranolol, and has been a wee bit curious as to how this drug's pharmacology pertains to his recreational drug use.
The key question is: do dopamine agonists take priority of natural dopamine in the body?
If yes, then theoretically anything with dependent dopaminergic activity would not work. If no, then the ropinirole would not work as well. Or is it a mid-ground answer?
As of now, the only combination (and actually it was not even a combination as he had not taken his medicine yet, which is odd due to the reaction) is with alcohol. SWIM's alcohol tolerance has not only sunk to zero, it has gone it the negatives. He can drink less than when he started at age 13. In fact, one beer doesn't get him drunk, buzzed, or anything, it just puts him cold to sleep. Still theorizing on this...
