Tom - A Case Study of a Psychedelic User

A new entry has been added to Drugs Archive

Description:
This is a documentary portrait of a young man living in Big Sur in the 1960's who uses peyote and other psychedelics as an important part of his life. It was produced for the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), but you'd never know that if it didn't say so in the opening credits. It's quite a nice little film.

Here is the info from YouTube:

"A public domain gem! This is from a series of Social Seminar movies made for educational use. The original intent of this movie was to paint a cautionary picture of an LSD user. Instead, the editor, Howie Lester, made it into a fair and even sympathetic portrait of a young man living an alternate lifestyle. They used to show this film every year in the drug awareness class we had to take with Mr. Blondin. Every year, people talked about how much fun it looked like to take acid, make pottery and live in Big Sur. Subversion at it's finest! NICE WORK, HOWIE!"
