SWIM suffers from mild depression, GAD/OCD and has been using Sertraline 50mgs per day for about two years and combined with CBT this has eased the unwelcome anxiety periods and OCD thoughts. (The OCD is a repetitive uncomfortable/debilitating thought process rather than a physical compulsion) Diazepam has also been prescribed to help with severe 'moments'.
Anyway, SWIM would like to stop using the Sertraline and try 5HTP as a more natural remedy. The question is do SWYs have experience of 5HTP and is it a successful alternative to SSRIs for SWIMS condition? (Obviously people are individuals and what works for one may not work for another but general experiences of 5HTP would be helpful) The 5HTP Swim has looked at is: Solgar |
