Common Stereotypes of DXM

I read a post by Curtain would stated "dxm is catching a lot of shit,"
which I agree with. I believe dxm definitely doesn't deserve the
undesirable reputation it has. In my opinion, dxm can be a wonderful
drug, even preferable to most other drugs (besides herb for regular
use). Dxm can produce a state I have achieved with no other drug.
Unfortunately long-term, regular use is not the best thing for your
head, but then again what drug is? I would love to do a study about the
negative stereotypes of dxm. Better yet, let me know what you think
here. How you do view dxm? Why do you think others view the drug the
way they do?

well before i tried dxm i was like "cough syrupt thats jsut dumb it
wont make you high or anything"...well after i tried it..now i know i
was COMPLETLY wrong..its a very powerful drug..and it was a great high
i had..i preferre it over weed and other pills..its a great drug...

i personaly view DXM as one of the most powerful drugs i have ever tried to date. nothin like the complete mind fuck of a 1g dose, experiencing the world without ever leaving our room and its also fun just to do a lower 2nd plateau trip to when hanging out with friends

I guess the reason DXM gets a bad wrap is becuase people don't look at chugging down cough syrup as a cool thing to do even if it will produce the most amazing high they might ever experience. people often refer it as the "poor mans high" like u don't have enough money to get real drugs so u drink robo, little do they no what they are actually missing out on.

Whenever someone tries to make fun of me becuase DXM is my favorite, i basicly just tell them to shutup and start explaining some of the amazing trips i've had and they are basicly speechless

DXM is my favorite drug of anything I've ever tried. (I've tried quite
a bit, too.) ... it's the end-all, be-all, of highs to me.



I agree with Curtains and most other pro-dex people, though, it gets a
bad rep as being a 'stupid,desperate teenage junkie' thing... chugging
syrup, downing gelcaps, buying a bunch of sucrets for an extraction,
etc.



Oh well, the less they use, the more I abuse!

I agree with you guys. DXM can definitely be quite powerful. It of course is kinda weird if you tell someone you were drinking robotussin or something, especially if they havn't heard of it before. it would definitely sound really strange, but dxm is definitely a great experience.

I remember when I was explaining DXM to someone for the first time.
They thought it was some illegal street drug and asked me where I got
it. I told them Walmart, and they just started laughing. The most
common stereotype for DXM is of course, like everyone else has said, is
that drinking a bottle of cough syrup is stupid.

The more i think about it the better it is that DXM does get the negative stereotype. my belief is that the more DXM grows and becomes an accepted drug the harder it will be to come by, and i don't want that to happen

ITA. Part of me hopes it always has a negative reputation or is viewed
as "something you can't get high of" (I've actually heard 'drug
experts' say this, and doctors too... how WRONG they are!).

I felt the same when years ago when I heard about drinking cough syrup
and now Its by far one of my favorite drugs. I used to rip on friends and
be like why dont you just drink peptmo bismal (sp) and other random
things but i was way younger and much less experienced. Its kind of sad
how ignorant i was.

Well, DXM definitely has a negative stereotype to it. A lot of
people

have mentioned that the idea of "drinking cough syrup to get
high"

sounds lame, and from the standpoint of a person who has never
done

it before (especially someone anti-drug) - well, SWIM even thought it

was a stupid idea until reading up on it and trying it (although
there

are much better ways to use DXM than drinking Robo). But
anyway,

this seems to be the stereotype of DXM (syrup form) from a
social

standpoint...



The other thing DXM has a bad rap for is the hazard to your health

crap. Most people know should about that issue with
chlorpheniramine

maleate (an antihistimine) in Coricidin Cough and Cold
and the problems

that can cause. There have also been a couple
overdose deaths from

the DXM itself. And don't forget that thing
with Olney's Lesions (yes, I

know that's controversial) and mental
impairment.



Anyways, what I'm getting at with that last paragraph is obviously law

enforcement and the media are going to make a big huge deal about

the
negative sides to DXM. Some of the stuff they say is exaggerated

so much it isn't even funny. But even still, what they say will
still rub

off on people and influence their opinions. I know that
they're just

trying to keep people from making dumbass decisions and
all, but they

sure don't help the negative image of this drug.

I never really saw drinking cough syrup as a bad thing, other than the taste of course



I've robotripped probably almost ten times on dosages from 300 to 600
and I do agree that DXM gets you really fucking high. I admit that I
don't know what to think of the "DXM is bad for you" school of thought
though. Dissociatives are just plainly worse for you than
hallucinogenics. I know friends who have been on acid for years with no
problems to speak of, while all of my friends who went on ketamine
binges fucked themselves up after a few weeks of continuous use. I like
the DXM trip, but I'm just not sure if it's worth it for me to keep
tripping on something that seems to have a decent chance of being bad
for me.
