I stopped taking ritalin 11 days ago, and I am going trough hell. Since I started taking it I have lost 28 pounds and that was only 5 months ago. It changed my whole being, from being outgoing and somewhat happy to a total mess. I hurt all over, cant get a wink of sleep and feel like all I want to do is cry. I know I will get beyond this, it will not beat me!!! But does anyone know how long the withdrawal effects last.

Swiy would already be beyond very noticeable physical withdrawals. Psychological withdrawals tend to be dependent on the individual; anywhere from days to months. How long were you downing the script and what was the dosage?

Sorry for such a late reply, I have been out of town. At another doctor, tomorrow a upper GI, then CT scan. I cant sleep a wink, and have now lost 22 pounds. Cant eat a bite. People say it should be over for me but its not. Was only takin 10 mg 3 times a day for about 8 months, but I have no tolerence for speed. hangin in there but its about to kill me. P.S. was never truly ADD, big mistake.

Swim hopes you get better soon. Yes the scripted meds can be worse than the street drugs when it comes to this. They are very addicting and cause wds both physical and psycological. The mental thing is the worst. If one can overcome that, they are ahead of the game. You should be over the worst in 14 days. In swim's experience anyway. rits are tough, swim had that issue at one point. Need to talk pm swim.
