Idea For Action
Dear friends,
Apparently in the UK, the police has accepted to start investigating (very well argumented) accusations against the former PM Tony Blair for committing war crimes due to his involvement in the decision to start the war in Iraq. See http://www.makewarshistory.org.uk/?q=node/2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GxL2M5wpFQ This is an excellent action tool also for us... We might discuss it further inside encod, and let you know. Best wishes, Joep Last edited by Alfa; 08-04-2008 at 19:55. Reason: fixed the link |

Re: Idea For Action
That's an interesting approach.
Who would you propose to take the action against? The leaders of each country? If that were to be the case which leader do you go for? In the case of the war on Iraq you could easily point to Bush and Blair as being instigators, but where do you point the finger when it comes to the war on drugs? I am not criticising, as I think this is potentially a good idea, just throwing some questions out there. |

Re: Idea For Action
Thank you for keeping us posted.
Of course, any such action would result in the burden of proof being placed upon those bringing the action. I suppose this means attempting to prove without any reasonable doubt that the national government(s)/UN Body were directly responsible, by virtue of their policies, for the harm that has been caused to users, the crime that has resulted from the trade in illegal drugs, the money that has been wasted upon this so called war on drugs, etc? Whilst we all know the validity of such statements, proving such would be another matter entirely. That being said, the publicity and exposure of opposing viewpoints that could potentially ensue would be priceless (although it would almost certainly come at considerable financial expense.....another consideration). |

Re: Idea For Action
Hi,
Set up a group of citizens from many different parts of the world whose lives have all be ruined/destroyed/seriously worsened by drug prohibition. Then get some American lawyer to sue the UN and all governments who since 1961 have continued to enhance prohibition in spite of all scientific evidence against it. Could be an idea for our Vienna actions in 2009.. best wishes, Joep |

Re: Idea For Action
Unfortunately our version of Benito Mussolini - G. W. Bush - has made it clear that should the World Court in The Hague (Holland) take such action against his regime, the result would be a military occupation. But, perhaps, starting with his lapdogs (Tony et al) would get the ball rolling.
The U.S. dropped into Afghanistan for a visit. And Afghanistan went from a non-exporter of heroin to supplying a flood of 80% of the world heroin supply. Are you surprised? Don't be. The goons behind the "War On Drugs" are the biggest pushers on the planet. We've known (and proved) this since our fun in Vietnam. Same war - different jungle. Keep going. We have to stop the murder. Good luck. |

Re: Idea For Action
Ofcourse warcrimes has to be prosecuted and punished, but please realize the hidden danger of this action. If it is let to an police institution to start to prosecuted there country leaders for warcrimes or other administrative crime committed during their service the police institution will become the most powerfull institution. And since police institutions of different countries has the tendence to work closely together this would be just one step closer to a world police force state.
