Evans' big rock 'n' roll crab trip

MOTORMOUTH DJ CHRIS EVANS has told how he took magic mushrooms — and thought he was riding on a giant CRAB.

The boozy Radio 2 presenter bragged on his BBC blog about using the Class A drug — and yesterday police said they could investigate.

Party-loving Evans, 41, experienced the bizarre “trip” during a gig at London’s Albert Hall.

Recalling how he shot live footage on his phone, he said: “It was a Meat Loaf concert, two days before which I’d had rather more magic mushrooms than maybe I should have.

Sideways

“I thought I was chronicling the Albert Hall moving sideways on the back of a giant rock and roll crab — something I didn’t think the world should miss.”

Meat Loaf played the venue in October 2006, the year AFTER the drug received its class A rating.

Radio 2 and Evans’ agent refused to comment on his drug claims yesterday.

But a pal said: “Chris is known to like a drink and a good night out — but I don’t think anyone realised that he occasionally dabbled in mushrooms.

“I don’t think he bothers that much with hallucinogens any more.”

A Met Police spokeswoman said the force would investigate any reports of Class A drug-taking.

A police source added: “If Chris Evans has admitted taking magic mushrooms after they were made Class A we will have to look into it.”

The maximum sentence for possessing magic mushrooms is seven years’ jail or an unlimited fine.

Trips on the drugs can last for days and users run the risk of mental illness.
One interesting bit is:

A police source added: “If Chris Evans has admitted taking magic mushrooms after they were made Class A we will have to look into it.”

Does that mean that they might look into Jacqui Smith's previously admitted cannabis use?
