URGENT: San Pedro ID

howdy

We are currently boiling up some SP, however we are not sure it is actually the san pedro cactus( we raided a plant in someone's front yard). I've done it before and it looks, smells, and will probably taste the same; the way things are going.

Is there any other catus that is VERY simialr to the san pedro and will have 'negative' side effects should we take it?????

Nope - probably a cerues spp. either cerues hexagonus or cerues peruvianus.

it was an abandoned house!!! i'm serious

we had some anyway, it was really mild but mixed with some weed we had quite an interesting night. Slight visuals and a huge analytical trip.

One person who had just the cactus juice said they may have tripped for like a minute.

Okay you are forgiven No more thief status.


A person I know ate a simmilar looking cactus and also claims to have had a mind altering experience.


There might be alkaloids in it that can alter perception. I forget the names of the alkaloids. eithertyramine or tyrosine seems to be a constituent of some cacti I remember reading, I am sure that if it is tyramine it will affect your bloodpressure. if it is tyrosine then your Dopamine levels will skyrocket for sure.


Am sure that with some searching on the net you will be able to find out allot about the cacti you ate. research the alkaloids or other possible plant molecules present in teh Cerues family.


Then again, it might have been PLACEBO. The anticipation of getting high and eating a disgusting tasting cactus can do allot of mind altering already.

There's some possibilty that any subjective effects from this
cacti (definitely NOT San Pedro, probably as stated a Cereus spp.-- the
ribs are too skinny and long and San Pedro is typically more
bluish-green than that) may have been the result of some alkaloid or
combination of alkaloids, but if cannabis was also being used, most
likely placebo is at work.

Please do be more cautious in the future, as negative physical
effects could potentially occur if a plant that is high in tyramine or
tyrosine is ingested, especially with an MAOI, and the DEA and
anti-drug warriors thrive on horror stories about "reckless youths
injuring themselves while experimenting with psychoactive plants they
learned about on the Internet". San Pedro is both affordable and
totally legal, not to mention how fast it can grow (over 14 inches a
year if already well-established).

That was NOT a picture of San Pedro cactus, definitely not. The ribs
were too skinny, and they went all the way in to the center core of the
cactus. Pedro ribs are chubbier and don't go but 1/3 or 1/2 way towards
the center of the core. It's a type of cereus you have/had there.
