Opium tea made from opium latex?

I cant find the answer to this anywhere and its driving me nuts!! could SWIM dissolve opium latex in water and drink it as a tea? or could SWIM even just swallow the latex by itself? if so, how much and which method is more effective?

Well all you're doing is dissolving the alkaloids into the water so I'd say yes. Grinding the latex first would help because it would give a higher surface area and expose more alkaloids to the waters. Eating the latex would work but may not be as effective because some may pass through the system before it gets full metabolised, if some of the alkaloids are trapped in fibre from the plant.

SWIM is new to this and is NOT ready to try to chemically extract anything from the opium (although i'd like to....)SWIM just knows that shes's made poppy tea for a few years- which is in essence opium tea, and was wondering if after extracted from the pod the opium could still be eaten/drank. would heating the water have any bearing on the outcome?

Using hot water can aid extraction but can also destroy alkaloids.

The forums' CW (conventional wisdom) says 75 C (170 F) and below is safe. Alkaloids are destroyed at 82 C (180 F) and above.

in theoretical environments making tea from it or eating it works. Smoking it is even better.
