Woman confesses to giving 2-month-old son sleeping pills and alcohol

NORFOLK, VA. (WAVY.com) -- A Norfolk mother has pleaded guilty to child neglect charges in connection to the death of her infant son.
Alisha Huhn's 2-month-old son died last fall. She confessed in court Thursday morning to giving her infant sleeping pills and alcohol.
The Commonwealth Attorney's Office says baby Ethan spent much of his short life drugged by his mother and in extreme pain with broken ribs from his father.
When he died on March 26, 2006, baby Ethan weighed 12 pounds, had 13 broken ribs and suffocated to death.
His mother has now confessed in court to using alcohol and sleeping pills so she wouldn't have to hear her baby cry.
The medical examiner says she found dangerous levels of diphenhydramine, or Benadryl, in the baby's blood - nine times more than any safe level.
And prosecutors say little Ethan's father, Anthony Huhn, crushed his baby's abdomen, breaking his ribs because the infant's crying was interrupting his video games.
The M.E. says that happened several times, meaning the baby was living daily with broken ribs.
The day Ethan died, prosecutors say he was full of sleeping pills. Anthony put the baby face down on the floor on a bunched up blanket, and put another blanket on top of him.
Court documents say "a child with broken ribs breathes less deeply than an uninjured child due to the pain. Being placed on a blanket with another blanket covering him in an 85 degree room would cause him to overheat."
Prosecutors say Anthony played video games for a few hours while Ethan died on the floor next to him.
WAVY.com talked with the baby's grandfather, who is Alisha's father, on the phone from his home in Michigan.
"He (Ethan) basically cooked and couldn't breathe probably. That's just sad. Aaah. I wish I would have been there," said Todd Langdon.
Until we talked to Alisha's father, he had no idea she gave the baby alcohol, as well as pills.
"Oh jeez. Oh that kid, I tell ya. I don't know what she was thinking," said Langdon.
Alisha Huhn will be sentenced for child neglect in June.
Anthony Huhn will go to trial in August on charges of 2nd Degree Murder, Felony Child Neglect and Malicious Wounding.

Very sad and sickening, absolutely horrible. How could anymore in her own right mind or not, do what she has done to a new totally innocent life. If she couldnt cope or whatever (no excuse for that at all!) the baby could of been taken to a loving careing family. A family perhaps that couldnt even have children.

People are persecuted for living peaceful lifestyles and working for change and consciousness expansion, and parents are out there so caught up in their ignorance and selfishness that they will drug, smother, and punch a defenseless baby, their own fucking child no less?

And... apparently a few days ago in a city near where I go to school someone entered a girl's apartment and murdered her, causing death by "multiple traumatic injuries."

What the fuck is wrong with these people? Not a good day here..
