Surgery and blood test?

Hello, first off I apologize if this is a double post. I thought I posted this question a week or two ago but can't find it.

SWIM is having a hysterectomy in a week or so. She will have to get the basic blood tests prior to surgery. My question is... will the blood test show anything suspicious if she's smoked very recently, perhaps the same day. She needs to know if the ph levels will be off or if her blood will be too thick or thin to have surgery. They obviously will not be doing a drug test. She's hoping that the results don't raise any red flags and prompt them to test further.

Thanks for your replies!
Pam

Re: Surgery and blood test?

Shouldn't do. When you have a blood test, they only test for certain things and I don't think cocaine is one of them.

Re: Surgery and blood test?

In Swims experience no drugs show up in blood tests unless they test swiy for drugs.
So if their not testing for drugs or dont know of any drug abuse, it should be kool.

Try not to worry about that, concentrate on keeping well before surgery and healing after surgery. A hysterectomy must be quite an emotional thing to be experiencing, Swim is hopeing all goes well

Re: Surgery and blood test?

I personally wouldn't take anything before going for surgery, too much chance of a bad interaction with anesthesia, paralyzing/muscle relaxants, analgesics etc. Just increases the likelyhood of complications IMO
