morphine vs oxycodone?

Swim would like to know what swiy likes more for euphoria and the overall high oxycodone or morphine thanks. SWIM personally enjoys oxycodone more but i was curious to know every1 elses opinion on this.

oxy's make the inside of my ear itch, morphine is good when snorted , at least that is what NIK thinks.

Swim loves morphine, but finds that it makes swim a bit irritable at points. Swim never gets irritable on oxy, it seems to be the better it all aspects. Morphine still rocks though.

Oh yeah, it also seems about 50% of swims friends cant take morphine cause it makes them sick. Swims seen some bad reactions to pretty low doses of morphine, but oxy seems to treat most people better.

most prefer oxy's. swim knows morphine causes MANY side effects more often than the others.

after swim has an appendectomy he woke up to a morphine drip. he felt very heavy and glued to the bed. he just didnt want to move. and he had no anxieties either. what he noticed though is that there wasnt any euphoria.

when he went home he was prescribed percocet (oxycodone) and took a couple and noticed that he was warm, along with the sedating effects with quite a bit of euphoria. so in swims and many others experiences oxy seems to be the best.

SWIM's dog Scooter has only been on morphine sulfate for a week now, controlled release. She loves oxy's. The only thing morphine has done for her besides nausea, is that last night she was reading and a "spider" jumped off the page at her. But only after the pup smoked some weed.

SWIM finds that mg to mg, Oxy is perhaps 20% more powerful, but more importantly, SWIM gets more euphoria from oxy, but more sedative effects from morphine. Overall, SWIM prefers and is more effected by a 40mg dose of oxy then a 60mg dose of morphine. SWIM would like to point out that one of his girlfriends claims the exact opposite conclusion.

Morphine is much longer acting to SWIM than Oxycodone is, Oxycodone unfortunenately loses it's effect within an hour or so when snorted. The low bioavailability of morphine is it's big downside though, the only ways it get's absorbed well is IV/IM or rectally, none are really practical to him. SWIM thinks they both have their positive and their negative points, he can't come to the conlusion which is overall the best, because they both haver their good and their bad things.

I have had morphine in the hospital before, but I am on Percocet 10 mg's, and they work fine on me. Morphine just put me to sleep, I could function well on Perks, seeing that I have a chronic pain problem. Hope this helps.

I've been on a pain contract for a couple months now. first time they gave me 30 vicodin. the second month they gave me 45. the doctor now told me the next time i see him he will put me on a long acting narcotic. i've tried and heard about ms contin and it sucks. i would perfer oxy is there anything i can say without being suspisious to get the oxycontin instead? i know its not gunna be strong w/e the med. is cuz i mean i've only been getting hydro so i was just wonding if anyone had experience or advice about that ...

swiy should tell the docs that morphine (ms contin) makes you sick and feel horrible with a bunch of side effects. this would be beleivable considering many people suffer alot of side effects from morphine. less so than other opiates. and then see what they give you. and considering it would be a long acting narcotic it would most likely be oxycontin.

FYI SWIy, don't let the vet put your dog on methadone, either. SWIM's dog Scooter was on methadone for over a year. While it does help with the pain and is cheap, it does not allow for a good time. No euphoria, just pain relief. And not all that great, either. Hopefully your dog's vet will be afraid to put your pup on it because of the herion addict conotations. (sp)

Scooter was on oxycontin for about 8 months a while back, and she found that at first, it was great, but then the vet had to put her on Fentynal (duragisic) patchs. Tended to stick to her fur.

Another thing to bring up to your dogs vet would be that, while getting her/his hands on a long lasting drug is great, the doggie will need something for break-through pain. When your dog over-does something, like too long of a walk or just trying to clean out the water dish, etc, the pup will have to wait for the next dose to get relief. Scooter hopes your vet is understanding that way. The hydro's should work great for breakthrough.

I left you a post in your other thread. The thing is, you aren't on a very strong pain contract, so I was actually wondering what type of pain you have? 30 vicodin a month is not a lot. I am on 100 Percocet every three weeks, and they are 10 mg's for a chronic pain problem due to surgery and complications, etc. I would think your doctor would up your pain contract a bit, and put you on extra strength perks? But who knows. Talk to your doctor though. Hope this helps.

I'd like to know what kind of crazy doctors you guys see. Let me make a few points.

1. You talk about 30-100 Vicodin or Percocet a month steady dose, right out of the show House? I mean what kind of sadistic doctor would do that to a patients body? We're talking over a gram of that highly poisonous useless substance acetaminophen (otherwise known as Tylenol, or psycho-ripoff), toxic to all body parts. Oh, and the ACTIVE pain ingreedient happens to be safe for life and non toxic narcotic which is also available in pure or slow release form. I mean do you people want to die early or are these doctors not from med school? I actually stopped watching the show House because I refused to believe that a smart doctor such as himself and his friends would stick to long-term acetaminophen-laced narcotics, when pure oxy or morph or hydro is not only more effective but totally safe for the duration of life. Both have equal abuse potential, so that is not even an issue. So, in real life, is it all about pharmaceuticals pocketing your money?

2. What do you people possibly have against proper long term daily use of methadone as a pain killer? I cannot think of any other opiate/opioid that comes even close in its function, is again a safe long term solution with low abuse potential, and with a HUGE added bonus that it prevents abuse of powerful narcotics all the while giving the user a mild "haze" kind of feeling throughout, perfect for those who need pain management but also must have some kind of mental aspect to the drug they use. It does not interfere with daily activitices, yet gives drug addicts who are in pain management that little bit of background feel which they all crave, mostly women. Not to mention the total miracle of this substance when it comes to controlling strong opiate/opioid use.

3. Depending on your financial status and place of residence, nothing beats a steady constant and reliable source of known purity injectible morphine or heroin. Of course this is only available in a very few places in the world, while the rest will consider you an automatic lowlife even if you're cruising through life with full success. It is this attitude we must change.

Which is why I am on Percocet 10\325... They gave me the lower dosage of Acetaminophen. I don't want to go on Oxycontin or something like that, unless it is needed. I am not damaging my liver because I do not overdose on the medication. I don't take that much. As for the show House, I'm sure we'll see something along those lines soon enough.

Perc 10/325's were swim's favorite, JJ. They are soooo good. Doesn't do opiates as much as he used to, but when swim does he take Roxicodone 15mg, probably about once a week. Oxycodone is amazing--such a clean high, true heaven.

Since Oxycodone can have up to 3x bioavailability than morphine depending on the route of administration in equianalgesic dosages one would have to agree that Oxycodone is far superior than morphine. (SWIM finds it more euphoric than morphine too).

methadone is a killer, just look at the half life of this medicine. long after the thrill is gone the killer will linger on.
