DHC Cold Water Extraction - a possible tweak?

I have been looking at various sources on cold water extraction and I have no trouble with the theory as far as it goes but there seems to be an easy way to reduce the amount APAP in the final product which I have seen no mention of. I feel that I am missing something obvious.
Would it not be possible to take the DHC in solution, evaporate the water off, wash the powder/gunk left behind with acetone (I'm thinking specifically of those products which are a mixture of DHC and APAP) to disolve any remaining APAP before filtering the solution and Keeping and drying the residue (completely of course!) to get a purer product?
I have seen some mention that heat can destroy codeine (ie through disolving in boiling water) but I have seen no mention of what the damaging temperature is and I was under the impression that the removal of the double bond made DHC considerably more stable in any case?
I would appriciate any input people have as my knowledge of practical chemistry is rather limited

Re: DHC Cold Water Extraction - a possible tweak?

Why would you ever want to do this? You would be taking half the reason you bought the pain medication away if you were to remove the APAP. It is widely known that DHC combined with something like APAP makes it better at relieving your pain, so to remove the APAP would be something only a Doctor should do.

Hope this helps

yeh would be nice if you could add some to the faq, if you have any info, and maybe encourage the mods to make it a sticky, cuz 50% the questons asked in the codeine forum are already answered there.. (and a nice rep would be also nice )
