Miracle Berry - Improves the flavour of Cacti?
With regards to the consumption of San ped or Torch, as most swimmers here will agree is pretty awful, swim has become interested in the use of a fruit called the 'miracle berry'.
I found it when reading through trip reports on erowid scrolling through the substances looking for something else. http://www.erowid.org/herbs/miracle_...le_berry.shtml I decided to have a read and it appears that the miracle berry inhibits your tastebuds abilities to taste sour or bitter flavours, turning nasties into tasties ![]() Fortunately the miracle berry, despite being listed on erowid, is not controlled anywhere so swim is going to be purchasing some to experiment with the next time he is going to be eating the nasty cactus. |

AW: Miracle Berry
well it does actually exist, somewhere a gardening shop sells 'em, its a german shop, pretty famous (not especially for ethno-stuff, more for plants & flowers in general) btw, apparently it changes some with your taste buds and f.e. if you eat greapefruit or lemon it will taste sweet. and that is a fact. how far that would help with mescaline, SWIm doesnt know.
the substance itself is apparently called "Miraculin" ![]() "Synsepalum dulcificum" description in german Quote:
furhter info can be found there, one thing i found Quote:

Re: Miracle Berry
Using the miracle berry in conjunction with swims 'smoothie' method (mixing the powdered dried cactus with a thick fruit smoothie) is by far the best consumption method swim has found so far. Swim actually enjoyed his dosing and is now waiting for effects..
Swim is however unsure whether the miracle berry worked by enhancing the sweet flavour to the point that the bitterness of the san pedro was unnoticed, or by actually masking the flavour of the cactus.. Either way this seems to be a winner! |

Re: Miracle Berry
Swim is feelin quite euphoric at the moment, but recalls consuming 40g of dried, powdered san pedro mixed into a banana and strawberry smoothie.
Lifted from wikipedia: A smoothie is a blended, chilled, sweet beverage made from fresh fruit. In addition to fruit, many smoothies include crushed ice, frozen fruit, or frozen yogurt. They have a milkshake-like consistency which is thicker than slush drinks, but unlike milkshakes, they do not usually contain ice cream, but can contain milk. Smoothies are marketed to health-conscious people, and some restaurants offer add-ins such as soy milk, whey powder, green tea, herbal supplements, or nutritional supplement mixes. |

Re: Miracle fruit + cacti = YUM?
turkeyphant SWIY took how many berries? and how did take the cacti.. and how much? SWIM is considering this to help with the taste, but wants to know if it'll be worthwhile.

Re: Miracle fruit + cacti = YUM?
I got it in powder form - it's miraculin, the active extract from the miracle fruit. 1 gram is more than enough and works best when mixed up with other fruit to get affected by the miraculin.

The only places I know for buying it are online - it's not so common you can find it in stores yet.

Yeah completely legal by virtue of not being explicitly covered. There might be some issues with selling for consumption but I doubt it.

I'll definitely look into this! Sounds much better than drinking an extract liquid, etc.

Re: Miracle Berry - Improves the flavour of Cacti?
Interesting thread to bump .... cant believe swim didnt think of this. Have any other swimmer tried this and had decent results ? Swim wonders if this would also help in the consumption of Ayahuasca, it being the only thing on the planet that tastes worse than Mescaline cactus. Perhaps a new thread should be made if anyone has tried it with Ayahuasca...

Re: Miracle Berry - Improves the flavour of Cacti?
As soon as SWIM hit his eyes on this thread he also immediately thought of use with Ayahuasca. He ordered the tablets some time ago after seeing them being covered in finnish tabloid press. They do work pretty effectively. Citric acid tastes pretty sweet after the tablet and all food is noticeably more sweet. In the tabloid press they even drank vinegar after a tablet and didn't complain of the taste. SWIM found it effective to reduce the taste of raw liquor, too.

Re: Miracle Berry - Improves the flavour of Cacti?
Miracle berries are the shit. They are a "flavor trip" all on their own. Seriously, get some and try drinking some orange juice. Or squeeze some lemon juice right into your mouth. It's amazing. If you drink beer while on the stuff it will taste like chocolate.
SWIM has tried mescaline a couple times in cactus form and had trouble with the flavor on both occasions. He actually had miracle berries on hand when dosing but didn't think to use them .SWIM has since sworn off of cactus dosing due to the projectile vomiting he experienced on his second (and last) dose. It's a shame, because he's found that the stimulating and psychedelic properties of mescaline were perfect, it was just the body load and nausea that ruined it. |
