Consequences of being caught growing shrooms in UK?

A friend of SWIM's was considering growing some psilocybin mushrooms at some point when he moves into a house next year, just a few for personal consumption and sharing with friends. Has anyone heard of anyone getting caught doing this and if so what are the consequences? Cause I know they're class A and all, but I can't imagine it would be treated as seriously as someone producing cocaine or heroin or something like that. Any ideas?
